Mary Pierce
Corina Morariu
Brie Rippner
Silvija Talaja
Vanessa Webb
Nana Miyagi
Chanda Rubin
Anna Kournikova
Kristina Brandi
Concita Martniez
Tax Garbin
Am I not aware of any players who 's form/ranking slumped due to injury?

Would I be right in saying the dramatic decline of Anne-G Sidot, Sonja Jeyasaleen, Amy razier(although she did beat Sanchez in Paris and Pierce on US clay) S Asagoe, DeLone, Pitkowsi(i know she has sinvce retired) and Dragomir was more form slump than major injury?

Hope all the wounded can get back on track in 2002 and esp Amy, Anne-G and Sonja can get back tio where they are capable of

TBE: I don't have any records of Grzybowska playing since IW.

I'd presume that Barabanschikova is injured, while Jeyaseelan definitely slumped (I have her with three wins and 18 losses).

And what happened to Amélie Cocheteux?

I think Amy's rank drop suffered more due to the Sept. 11 attack. She accumulates the majority of her points in the year during the summer hardcourt season, and fall season, and she didn't play any events after the attacks which meant she dropped off a lot of points.

Sonya has a rough year, struggled with confidence very badly, and although she did play a few events in the summer after WTT (Toronto, US Open, Quebec City), she has been suffering from knee tendonitis which prevented her from playing more events such as challengers to try and keep her ranking decent and get in some matches.

thanks Randy for news on sonja- i hope she is Ok.
and thanks for everyone else thoughts- yeah I had zuluglia, grybowska and olga on list but forgot to type them in.

With Amy, I mean I think she is great so no direspect- ui know she does bestr towards the end of year but her US hardcourt form wasn't to form and had a shocker against jidkova in Hawaii so even though she pulled out fomr a ot of events towards the end I still don't think she would have been in top 40.

any news on olga and maggie's return?
I wonder if Fabiola is happy with her progress and if she is happy with her comeback results.

Sugiyama played through multiples of injuries throughout the season. wish she didn't because she was never at 100%. Hopefully in 2002 she will be at top notch, 100%, nothing less and rise back to top 16 in singles and No 1 in doubles. =)

Whilst not quite as dramatic Lindsay Davenport also suffered in a sense.

She missed 3 months this year in a period when she could have made up many many points. I guess it didn't matter at all for Lindsay in the end but it has the potential to - she was lucky she hit top form at the end of the year. Had she underperformed indoors her ranking would have dropped to #4 I think......

Mirjana Lucic has suffered from injury (missing the first three months of the year with elbow and knee injuries) and from a loss of form ever since.

Olga hasn't played since April ( she played 1st part of year with foot injury and it got worse)

Olga is still out and hopefully will be back in 2002.

Magdalena ...... another serious injury , may have to retire ( hope not)
Amelie Cocheteux has won only 1 match since before Roland Garros 2000.

I don't think Justine Henin's ranking suffered from those 2 small injuries...

I'd say Kournikova, Pierce & Morariu. They should be much higher in the rankings!

magdalena grzybowska - tbe!!! let's hope she does not have to!!!

she's only 23 and missed nearly two years the tour when you put all her injuries together.

she couldn't really reach her form back after her first knee injury (than ranked 30, and was 19 years old).

she fought back in 2000 to position number 68, when her shouler and another knee injury stopped her.

she returned to early, her knee was not really recovered, what made the whole injury worse,

since indian wells she didn't play any tournament.

she planned to return in sopot, but the injury became worser and worser.

now she plans to return in january...

let's hope this.

tbe, do you know if she will have a protecting ranking, i heard when a player is out of the top 300, she will not have. is that right? she's now somewhere in the 800 - 900...
I saw last week Olga's ranking was #784 with 9p. (how can she come back...)

Her Injury rank will be around 150 so not much help , still better than 215.
