I think we played two times more - in Australian Open and Casablanca (but I'm not sure) - my player was Daja Bedanova before J&S Cup in Warsaw in May

Mary Pierce(5-FRA) def. Tamarine Tanasugarn (THA) 3-6 6-4 7-5

“I worked so hard on my fitness. I think I’m in the best shape of my life right now, I think,” said Pierce. “So that gives me some time, and that’s because I know that I can outlast anyone. It just gives me the attitude that I’m going to do anything it takes after knowing how hard I’ve worked.”
said Pierce after her win over Tanasugarn. In the next round she will face Bianka Lamade from Germany.

Defending champion struggles, but advances

Topseed and defending champion Mirjana Lucic advanced into the second round of Pilot Penn Tennis in New Haven beating Maria Kirilenko 7-5, 7-6(1). However, world No.1 didn't have an easy time on her way to the next round.

"She's very talented, one of the rising stars of FWTA, she had nothing to lose and just played great tennis today, that's the reason why the match wasn't easy for me, but it was attractive for spectators for sure," Croat said. Lucic was playing her usual powerful game, but Kirilenko was getting every ball back, she was like a wall. When Lucic started hitting harder, Kirilenko would rise her level, too.

"I'm happy to get through and I'm looking forward to my next match," Lucic said. She next faces Wynne Prakusya.

Perhaps this is your time, but for the other hand last two times I defeated you, I won the tournament! Good luck for both of us!
