Bulgaria - Poland
At all there was no intrigue in this tie. Sisters Radwanska dominated their single games and there were no chances for Bulgarian girls. Urszula Radwanska started awesome and the score was 4-0. She was dominating with her perfect placed groundstrokes, some amazing drop shots, superb passing-shots and returning almost everything. Dia Evtimova was trying a lot of things, but no surprise. In second set Evtimova broke and was leading 2-0, but Radwanska quickly broke back and was serving for the match at 5-3. After Dia Evtimova missed some chances in the last game, the match finished with easy win for Urszula 6-1 6-3.
In second rubber the other sister - Agnieszka, also dominated in all components. Tsvetana Pironkova produced only power shots - sometime it worked, but in more cases the result was unforced errors. Radwanska perfectly was returning during whole match, made some great dropshots - at one of them while Tsvetana was running for the ball - fell very badly on the court on face. For good there were no injuries or hurts and Pironkova resumed playing. In second set everything was equal up to 3-3, but then Agnieszka made the crucial break and the result from the tie was clear. The doubles were formal and for that reason Mladenova and Alawi played again for Bulgaria. Domachowska and Jans were too good for Bulgarians. Alawi was simply not for doubles - almost didn't play a ball at the net. After the doubles' rubber Domachowska and Jans were practising around 20-30 minutes.
Luxembourg - Great Britain
As i said in my previous report Mandy Minella has improved a lot for one year. Naomy Cavaday was in the match mainly because she is left-handed and made problems for Mandy. There were a lot of breaks in the whole match. Minella experienced the same match yesterday vs Domachowska and today she managed to take the tiebreak in 2nd set and then turn the match finally 4-6 7-6 (2) 6-4. Anne Kremer was dominating in her match vs Anne Keothavong. In 1st set she broke in the beginning and after that it was easy. In doubles match the more experienced partners Baltacha and Curran took a win 2-1 sets, which can be very important in case that 3 teams are with same points tomorrow after all matches completed.
Hungary - Ukraine
At all this tie was very intrigue in all rubbers. Agnes Szavay managed to turn the result in her way after lossing 4-6 in first set. With 6-3 7-5 in next sets she took the first point for Hungary. Agnes was returning almost everything and with her topspin was troubling Kateryna Bondarenko, who mainly used her powerfull shots from all over the court - some perfect winners, but errors were more. In second rubber Kyra Nagy started promising and with amazing service and strong shots desperated Juliana Fedak. But the Ukrainian girl was cheered from the Ukrainian fans, also encouraging herself with "Lena, davay, davay, common" and she managed to take the first set with 6-4. After that Nagy started to make more errors, Fedak was returning more and more balls and the win came 6-2 in second set. The doubles match was crucial and began very tough for both teams. Sisters Bondarenko started with some aces, Szavay and Gubacsi was making very good rallies. Zsofia Gubacsi was more stable, but Alona and Kateryna took the first set 6-2, Hungarian girls took the second 6-3, and the 3rd infarct set was won 8-6 by Ukrainians, the tie too.
Belarus - Lithuania
The 2nd player of Lithuania was very weak and lost to 4th player of Belarus Milevskaya 4-6 2-6. Then came the surprise from Lina Stanciute, who demolished Tatiana Poutchek 6-1 6-1. As i said yesterday this Lithuanian girl has big potential with her aggressive playing. Despite her talent the doubles match is something very different and Belarusian girls won very easy 6-0 6-1.
Sweden - Serbia
The first match between Johanna Larsson and Vojislava Lukic was very intrigue. The Swedish girl lost the first set, but then turned and took the second. In 3rd she was leading with two breaks 3-0 and accidently she got a medical timeout. The Swedish captain massaged her first, and then came the doctor. Lukic managed to came back to 5-5, but Johanna took the next two sets. In next rubber Jelena Jankovic was absolutely dominating Sofia Arvidsson - made superb passing-shots and backhand winners. The doubles was crucial in this tie, too. Swedish doubles Arvidsson/Larsson took the rubber and made a surprising win over Serbia, who were Jankovic/Timotic in doubles.
