both girl's years have been pretty ordinary so it's shame that they have to play each other (or maybe it's a good thing because it at least guarantees one will go through)

i think you're being a little too harsh on patty (and russian line judges for that matter). considering that patty beat her last year on the same surface, is ranked higher, and has already had two good wins on the surface this year, i would find it surprising if it was a no contest. playing in front of your home crowd is often to the detriment to a player, patty for example didn't get beyond the second round of zurich before last year.
