"On Fire" Ferro continues her winning streak as she overpowers Gatto "The Cat" Monticone 6-3,6-2.
Ferro is on a 7 match win streak with her championship at Lausanne and 2 more wins in Palermo.
Ferro's live ranking is now up to #65.

Gatto"The Cat" Monticone is 31 y/o and has spent almost her entire tennis life in the ITF.
The Cat never got into the top 200 until this year.
Gatto finally got into the qualies in the FO and Wimb this year and won her way into the main draw.
In the main draw in both the FO and Wimb she had no luck. Gatto was beaten by Kenin in the 1st in the FO and was beaten by S Williams in the 1st in Wimb.
She appears to have a top 100 game, if she gets lucky in the draws. Gatto's live ranking is now #152.

First time watching Gatto and she actually has an interesting flat BH that can inject some pace and get her some flashy winners. The problem is the rest of her game is not that good. FH is harmless and can't even finish points on high mid court balls; serve doesn't get her cheap points or set ups to finish it (then again this was clay) and her footwork seems slow.

But it's nice she's having her best career year and finally enjoying GS main draws.

Gatto Monticone was completely deflated and playing nowhere near the level she showed in the previous 2 months. Ferro would have probably won anyways, but it could have been a bit more competitive.
It must be psychologically kind of tough and disorienting to go from playing mostly 25ks to 2 GS MDs, playing Serena, and various WTA main draws in the space of a few months, especially at 32 years old.

Hope she can regroup and have a great end to her season/career :yeah:

Ms. Iron (Ferro in Italian is Iron) really climbing up the ranks these last couple of days. I know it wasn't exactly tough competition today, but still it's nice seeing her prove that last week was only the beginning and she is still hungry.

Gatto is a cat in Italian, but it also reminds me of Polish brand named Gatta which is known of pants and pantyhose. xd

Kawa who has a breakthrough lately too and beat Ferro 6-0 6-2 two weeks ago, means coffee in Polish.

Giulias movement seemed a bit hampered from her knee issue since her retirement on her grass warm up tournament.

Other than that I love how tactical she can play. If she would have a better serve she could be a steady Top 100 player for sure.
