What a lousy draw!
Both Inter-High School finalists (Komugi Matsui and Moe Kawatoko) are up against top seeds.

I would have thought that Angie Widjaja would play here, I guess she's kinda finished with juniors.

Seldom ..... the entry is about the same as last year , this event doesn't attract all the best players .... time zone , flying , cost etc
but it does have #2 , #3 and #4 in the ranks

I wouldn't be so fast to proclaim this tournament Svetlana-Marion afair. There are some players that are very capable of upset, such Su-Wei Hsieh.

Anyhow, go Sveta! Take the prize and tie fors the 1st place in the ranking!!!

Seldom, I like your junior websites. In a way, I find girls junior tennis more interesting than the WTA. Junior tennis is far less predictable than the WTA. Wondering which junior girls will turn out to be WTA stars is intruiging. I'm somewhat partial to the Russian females. So, I hope to see a website dedicated the "Russian Lynx", Maria Sharapova, in the near future. Keep up the good work. And keep informing people of your tennisballerz website. I just clicked onto it by chance.

P.S. - If I thought about the WTA and ATP tours all the time, I would become bored with tennis. Anna Kournikova kind of rejuvinated my interest in tennis a few years ago. Now there is so much to look forward to. Now, if only those damn terrorists didn't exist! Udachi Maria Sharapova and the RF(Russian Federation)!

I can see some sweet quarterfinal matchups coming up:

Kuznetsova vs Hsieh
Birnerova vs Babos
Czafikova vs Nemeth
Mezak vs Bartoli

My tip: Kuznetsova def. Bartoli in the final in a rematch of the US Open final, but this time Svetlana getting her revenge!

the cat in the hat,
Thanx for your compliments about Tennisballerz. I also think Junior tennis is as interesting as the WTA, if not a little bit more. Yeah, I have Svetlana and also Zvonareva in my network, I asked Sharapova if she wants a website, but she didn't... (I only do the websites if the players agree and really want one) I'm trying to get my website to as many tennis fans as possible, but I'm not having a lot of luck...its very hard getting many visitors... do you have any ideas? Do you have a website? You could join our staff of currently 3 people at Tennisballerz and help us out, you'd be the promotion and marketing manager then. You would be in charge of getting the site popular, wellknown and lots of visitors! What do you think?

Seldom, it's too bad Maria doesn't want you to do her website. If I have any ideas how you can expand your tennisballerz website, I'll let you know. I'm not that technically competent with computers. I just enjoy surfing the internet. I subscribe to Tennis Week and Australian tennis magazine. Tennis week has a listing in every issue of tennis websites, and where they can be found. I'll get you their number if you want it. they are located in New York City. I also have alot a few tennis websites that I occasionally check out, that you might be interested in. Keep up the good work! Udachi Seldom!

P.S. - I don't have a computer at home, so I have to use public access. That's why I only post on tennis boards here and there.

P.S. - In the October 2001 issue of Australian Tennis Magazine, there is an article called "The Other Russian Queens". It was a look at Russian players other than Anna Kournikova. There was a picture of Maria Sharapova as well as one of Tatiana Golovin. Under Tatiana's photo, they spelled her last name the Russian way. Which is Golovina. That was funny to see her name spelled that way. I know Tatiana was born in Moscow, but is a French citizen. Right? In the summer of 1998 I taped a sports cable T.V. show called "Goin' Deep". They did a feature on the Bollettieri Tennis academy. It was a good segment. They featured Tatiana and Maria. Tatiana's mother has a very thick Russian accent. And the man doing the story referred to Tatiana and Maria as a couple of Russian girls. So I'm a little confused as to when Tatiana became a French citizen. I also think it's a good idea that Tatiana is not receiving as much publicity as Maria. Which could be a blessing in disguise for Tatiana. I think the more publicity a young player gets, the more pressure they feel. Do you agree?
