I know this is the topic of every other thread, but I have to say this...
I was just flipping through the channels and on CNN there was a headline that read "Sister of Venus, Serena Williams Shot to Death" - at first I thought they meant Serena was shot, and I nearly had a heart attack, I swear. I broke into tears. I turned the volume up and they were saying that it was in fact Yotunde, a sister of Venus and Serena, that was shot. Right now I am in complete shock - I don't know how this could have happened.
Venus and Serena have never been my favorites, but as I have followed their careers over the last few years, they never cease to impress me. And one reason for this is the all-around lives they lead, not only with careers, but their amazing family life. I love to see the 3 or 4 Williams/Price sisters in the front row of V/S's matches, it brings a warmness to my heart. V/S always thank their family members first - and who can blame them.
This puts everything in such a different perspective. I'm here at college worrying about grades while someone was just killed. I know how Venus and Serena feel, as my mom died when I was 16. My heart goes out to them...and I want them to know that even if they never return to tennis, they've left their mark on this world, and not only because of their amazing display of tennis.
God bless her soul.
