JJ played really well in the first set. The second set she just got bludgeoned. :lol:

First Lady Michelle Obama was there to watch LordRena.

JJ was very good in the first set but unraveled in the 2nd - the forehand started sitting a lot shorter and she was blasting it wide... you can tell how much she wanted to win. Just a really unlucky draw, Serena really came to play against JJ, she knew she wasn't going to get much.

I just wish JJ played with this level of determination against every opponent.

Serena, please win this tournament.

Serena NOT a mess off the ground for the first time in months Bombshell.

Jankovic did play reasonably well for her recent standards, but sadly it's time to accept this is just the best she can do these days and she's arguably no longer even a top 20-calibre player - she's too old and her legs too drained to chase down all the balls she used to. Some might say her uncharacteristically good-natured attitude today (laughing and smiling quite alot), is a positive, but I thought it seemed almost melancholic, like she's resigned to her status in the sport.
