this is not the first time something like this has happened

costa cheated ivanisevic at the us open somewhere around 5-5 in the third set when he touched the net on a game point for goran and won the point (he went on to break goran in that game)

no one complained. why does one point matter so much! it was only .5% of the match

One point matters because you want to believe that we follow a sport that is fair and that the people who participate at the highest level are there on the back of their honest endeavors. When a player clearly shows dishonesty when half the world is watching her, then there is no telling what lengths she would go when the world isn't looking to achieve success.
