So is it: Mexico - Asia - back to Mexico?

These WTA dudes are geniuses when it comes to planning their calendar. Do they want to kill these girls?

Can we please stop posting these rumors as facts ? Aren't we up to something like the fourth YEC "announcement" thread by now ?

If it's true, it's pretty good news overall. Better than some of the other rumored venues, but I still don't see why the hell they're not going back to Fort Worth if Shenzhen fell through. They could have had time to market it and get established instead of this ridiculous trend of jumping cities every year with last minute announcements.

Guadalajara was great so WTA finally realized they might need to host this in a place where fans would show up. The Fort Worth empty stands was a complete and utter disaster, good thing Simon didn't try to run it back to prove a point because that would have been insane.

This journalist is Klaudia Jans' husband. Therefore he's better linked to tennis world than just through the job itself.

The crowds were pretty good by late in the week. They could have turned it into a good event with proper effort. Hopefully Cancún can pull the same crowds as other Mexican destinations, but it's more of a tourist destination so I'm a little less optimistic than I would be about other cities there.

WTA is paying for everything 🤔

Can't we wait a little longer until it's official? Because I still don't believe that when Czechia offered very similar prize money to the Saudi ones, a large fan base, a close location to the BJK Cup final, and permission for Belarusian and Russian women to enter the country, that they didn't get it.

It sounds like there are just a number of candidates and options still being discussed and no decision made yet.

It does seem ridiculous to me to basically centre the whole campaign after the USO on China, only to move the WTA Finals back to the American continent. Typical messy WTA. Why can't they decide the WTA Finals first and then build the rest of end of season leading up to it? I thought the whole point of them not having a permanent home the last couple of years was that it was going back to Shenzhen....so if is not/was never going to be there in the first place, why can't/couldn't they find the Finals a new 5 year home like the ATP manage to do?
