Re: Official FWTT Schedule 2019

Like last season, if three tournaments by the WTA are played during a week, we moved the third tournament to a week where we only have a Premier Event to spread players evenly and give the players more possibilites to choose :)

Re: Official FWTT Schedule 2019

Dear players,

like last season, when we had three tournaments during a week, we moved one of those tournaments to a week where we only had one tournament to spread players evenly and give the players more possibilites to choose. This season, it's not working out with Nanchang (next to Hiroshima and Quebec) right after the US Open, so we'll leave the tournament in its original place. If we get at least 8 players, the tournament will be played, otherwise the tournament will be cancelled and players will be informed to move to either Quebec or Hiroshima. :)

Hey guys,

I just updated our schedule, adding 125k events for the second week of a Grand Slam and for the two weeks events in Indian Wells and Miami. I tried to stick with the WTA schedule, but moved Taipeh next to the Australian Open (given Australasia; but we could also go with Sydney, given its huge traditions and as it won't be held anymore). I added Guadalajara next to Indian Wells to have another Mexican tournament and Newport Beach next to Miami. Next to Roland Garros, I thought about Bol and Karlsruhe, but as Germany will have two additional tournaments in 2020, I decided to go with Bol/Croatia. As there is no 125k event on grass and Bastad won't be held anymore as a regular tourmament, I hope everyone is okay with Bastad being played during the second week of Wimbledon on grass. Houston will be played during the second week of the US Open.

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions :D

Would the 125k be played the first week of the big tournaments seen as we normally play the GS the second week of the actual slams?

No, we would adjust our usual schedule for the Grand Slams and start playing them during the first week. Therefore, players can still play both events if they won't make the Quarterfinals in singles, doubles or mixed doubles. Same ofr Indian Wells and Miami.

A big NO for 125k in Grand Slams second week. Minimum 16 players will be involved in QF doubles (8 teams), and then we have singles, mixed and Top 10 restrition. We'll barely get 8 players.

They should be added only on Premier 5 tournaments weeks, so low ranking players get an option.

But we had a voting on it including Grand Slam; I don't see the problem playing them next to Grand Slams, even with a smaller amount of players. I still like the idea a lot more to have the Premier 5 events as the only event during a week, given the Premier 5 events will count towards the rankings....

People saw two options and didn't think through it :eek:h:
I'm adding tournaments back from 2014 to the spreadsheet and I see 125k tournaments with 4 players and 2 WOs... Do we at least have the minimum 8-players rule alive?
And Premier 5 are not mandatory for rankings, only PMs.

Yes, we should decide it from tournament to tournament and play it with at least 8 players, that’s the minimum we have for regular tournaments as well.

No? I thought we would have the grand slams, the premier mandatory and the premier 5 events as mandatory tournaments for the rankings?

And if we have several players in the quarterfinals of both singles, doubles and mixed doubles, we might have a lot more players than expected. Everyone beside the Top 10 can commit to play and the entry list for the 125k events will be updated once we get to the quarterfinal stage. But we will keep the minimum of 8 players rule for a tournament in mind; let's see what happens :D
