They want slow courts now, but rest assured if a pole servebot appeared on the scene and knocked Iga out of relevancy they'll move onto the next thing and want fast courts. I watched her quite a bit around when she was starting juniors, mainly doubles but I don't have much interest in her tennis, I prefer Magda Linette and even Frech.

I just checked GM and there is 75 post in the Cirstea thread in half a day, the interest is dying a little but that is GM in general.

My favorite surface is clay. But there should be variety, hard courts playing slower than some clay tournaments is nonsense. Make it a clay event already because it's a natural surface and is better for the body. Variety is what is great about any sport, from conditions, styles, everything.

I try get into clay, but just need to hit luck and support players I gravitate too that happen to be good at it. Problem is I watch clay more than other surfaces because I watch UTR and ITF's and the main tour is refreshing to see something different.

I like Lourdes Carle and Brenda. Carle missed an opportunity to build a ranking on the tour, I don't think she wants to play much hard-courts by the looks of it.

I still don't understand why south american players struggle so much playing on other surfaces, and in general outside of their continent, with few known exceptions. The tour is dominated by players from Europe who mostly also learned to play on clay. What is that something that makes the difference?

I'm not sure, LegionArgentina is on the discord channel and he's quite knowledgeable on that stuff. It seems similar to the men's as well. I guess it may be similar why NZ is one of the best at boating and rowing type sports, we have challenging natural rivers.

Hello Papasoni I don't like clay, it is all orange and slow. 😨

Yup, a lot of fans who have been waiting for a dominant No1, don't care about who it is, game style and so on.
I think Sabs has a good chance to beat Iga in the final, so if that happens should get quieter again over there in GM in that case, lol.

Personally, i don't like someone to be so dominant, rather to have several players at the top creating rivalries like the big 3/4 we had in the mens for years. Iga will have her challengers: Sabs, Elena, Coco maybe, hopefully Emma. And Babs already has a rivalry going with her, beating her last two times.

It's the secondary major European tournament. It's the level below the Champions League. At the moment, there's three European club tournaments organised by UEFA (in order of level):
1. Champions League
2. Europa League
3. Europa Conference League
I'm sure @zenga10 only forgot about Europa League yesterday, when Arsenal got eliminated by Sporting. ;)

I've often thought that the concept of international club competitions might be hard for American sports fans to comprehend because (AFAIK) no teams from the NFL, MLB, NHL and NBA take part in international competitions. They do have the Harlem Globetrotters though ;)

We've had international club competitions in Europe for almost 80 years and the CL in particular is seen as the most prestigious trophy that a club can win.

Another feature is that it is theoretically possible for a club from, say, San Marino or Andorra to play against a Premier League team. I went to see Manchester City play TNS from Wales in the old UEFA Cup back in 2003.

And another improbable feature is that my local non-League club could qualify for the Europa League if it won the FA Cup.

Also a club can get from one competition to another the next year by winning it. And countries have different quotas for eligible clubs for each competition. The Conference League was made by UEFA to keep the clubs from poorer countries outside of the eyes and keep the richer clubs happy, it must be said.

I had a look at point by points and patterns and on the face of it, Iga's game doesn't lend itself to rivalry she either dominates or gets dominated. For common opponents she has bakeried them and got bakeried herself, virtual bageled by Cornet and demolished by Niemier in a set, even more so than the scoreboard suggest.

The commentator said it numerous times during her broadcast that she is the best front runner on the tour and the data shows but the collapse from behind kinda suggest either her plan B does not exist or she lacks problem solving.

She is applying pressure from game one, unlike mane others who like to get slowly into the match, see how it goes, and so on. Bianca was the only one in this tournament who could and should have taken a set from her, but Bianca is also not known as the best front runner on tour, maybe one of the worst. Also want to see her after losing the first set against an in form top player.

That's why I'm not betting any matches for the remainder of IW, Iga is too variable you can't trust the spread. She could win a set 6-0 or lose 2-6 it's too wild.

Looking at her interviews, she is always completely focused on herself. Only talks about her opponents if asked, but doesn't seem particularly interested in them. I know all players are like this to some degree, but Iga seems more extreme. Serena was the same as well. This is probably why Iga isn't that interested in strategy and leaves it to her coach, because she believes her best beats everyone else's best. It's a stubbornness that the greats often have and it can backfire on them at times - when someone does have a strategy to beat them.

It's too early to say weather her game has ATG characteristics, when you look at goats of any sport they have the ability to get in the zone, problem solve and make adjustments. She hasn't had many chances to show that yet as she's too good at front running and the odd chance she does she collapses. The come back against Saba at USO down a break in the third is what goats do all the time but let's see if it's repeatable. Rybakina comes back down from 4-1 frequently but she's the worst starter, susceptible to early breaks.
