Very, very competitive play today - after a flurry of breaks it came down to scoreboard pressure; Sabine had to hold to stay in twice, managed the first time but not the second. Another loss is hard for her, but as a performance this was pretty encouraging; scrappy, certainly, and some weaknesses still very apparent, but pretty encouraging. And the first positive movement in that respect since the Bogata tournament, I guess.

Sabine is slowly improving. She won 7 games against decent player.

How many more WC does this woman have? Seeing her wasting WTA main draw and qualifying draw slots and losing every time is really getting old. I know this tournament is in her home country, but what is the point of playing week in and week out at a level where you have had zero success in 2019, rather than dipping down to challengers or taking a break for a training block?

If she had any sense, she would save most of them for the grass, which is the only place she'd likely get any victories at this level, with the way her game is right now, but she has shown this whole year that she is completely delusional.

Sabine! :tears:

She's on the alt list for Surbiton... I'd like to see her get a WC and she'd have a good chance of picking up some wins there.

Maximum is three main draw WCs, three qualifying WCs, three 125K WCs, and then another three WCs (main draw or qualifying) for being on tour 10+ years.

Currently she has used:

2 125K WCs
4 Main Draw WCs
2 Qualifying WCs

Also, slam WCs don't count towards this total, so she could receive a Wimbledon WC and it wouldn't count.

What is the record for a season at this rate Sabine could go 0/20 something on win loss?

So she has one qualifying wildcard left? This is getting ridiculous :help:.

Respect to her for trying and her level doesn't seem that bad but it is beyond clear at this point that she needs to drop down a level. Besides her confidence, this losses are doing nothing for her ranking.

1 qualifying wildcard, 1 125K wildcard, and two other wildcards (either main draw or qualifying). And then slam wildcards if they choose to give her one, since they do not count towards the total.

Oh duh I missed the part about three 125K wildcards in your original post.
How does that work though :spit:? Why is a certain kind of main draw exempt from main draw requirements? It must be that part of the WTA's strategy to market WTA 125Ks is trying to attract has-beens with essentially free wildcards .

Her result in a $125K last fall is also the only thing keeping her ranking afloat. Notably, that was on a fast indoor surface, and she has already wasted four of her WCs on clay this year...

She'll also get one at the Karlsruhe 125k. So with the exception of Wimbledon, this is it for her this year, then? Finally she will be forced to play the tournaments she should be playing anyways.
