than travelling all the way to a tournament and find out you've missed out on a qualifying spot.
Thats the harsh reality of Alternates.

a Total nightmare, waste of money/time you don't have,
and you could have played elsewhere where you would have got in.

Re-emberse?? That's a lot of money for an organisation that does not even have sufficient money to run a proper forum...

[email protected]_Rulez hehe.

The WTA don't do such things,

Quite alot of players know they won't get in so don't go. but ones who do are ......

Players in challengers also have to pay for their accomodation unless its a Hospitality event.

id imagine a lot of players are already coming from a very wealthy background, affording to place the child in development and such. but thats me thinking logically, and maybe it doesnt apply.

still sucks rectum for them

It sure would be a bad feeling. You'd think that the WTA could try to find some way around this, but I guess they can't shell out to plays like that all the time... (then again... but I won't start on that! hehe)

There are no other tourns down under when AUS Open starts if that what you were referring to.

I was talking about the whole year really.

Nearest ranking events are in Europe or in USA but those are 10K events so players who will try to make AUS Open qualies won't likely play in those events.

Players have to decide whether they want to play in Challengers or try to make the qual draw of a WTA event.

Playing in challengers means forking out of accomodation and food as well but you will be playing there and earning rank pts

By trying to get into qualies when you aren't even sure of a Qualifying place is the hard bit.

Making qualies gives you some money and rank points.
if you don't then its waste of money, time and demorolising.

Yeah that sounds horrible, i think the top 200 manage alright but the rest of the players are really screwed.
They should start giving more money, in my opinion tennis pro's don't get enough money, loook what basketball players get, like kobe bryant and iverson and look what football players get, that is reallly shitty.

I am not even certain that top 200 manage alright, at least in Asia.

As from top 100 it is starting to get better, though it is sometimes difficult if you want to get a coach, which is a must, and you must pay for his salary and all expenses...

Tennis players' life is something really hard.
