I think that it's time that this girl gets her thread. She is only 14 and with today's win in Dubrovnik R1 she will get her WTA ranking on November 4th.

I couldn't find much info about her, but it looks like she lives in Tuzla (BiH).

She had some nice results in young categories, most notable are final at Tennis Austria 2012 Europe Junior Tour and another final at Memorijal Goran Tanovic 2012.

Nina focused on junior circuit in 2013. but her results weren't so good, but score 13-6 in wins is not so bad.

But best results surprisingly came on ITF Pro circuit. For start, Nina played 10 000$ tournament in Brcko (BiH). She started in qualifications and had nice wins in first two qualifying rounds. In last QR her opponent retired after Nina's 7-5 4-1 lead. Then Nina had luck to gain her first career point after Ema Miklulcic retired after 4-4 in first set. In second round Nina lost to Milana Spremo (CR 575.) 1-6 3-6.

Second ITF for Nina was 10K in Dubrovnik. She bageled her opponents in qualifications and had easy win in first round against another 14 y.o. before she lost in second round to Mekovec (CR 643.)

And this week Nina plays at another 10K in Dubrovnik where she also had to play qualifications. Again she had nice and easy wins in qualifications and in first round she easily defeated WC player. And that means that she will get WTA ranking and that she probably won't have to play qualifications at 10K tournaments.

Nice pro debut for young girl, I will follow her results in future for sure :)

^ It's a very nice accomplishment, for sure, for someone so young! :cheer:

However, to keep things in perspective, of her 3 MD wins, two came against unranked 14 year olds born in 1999 (ie, even younger than Nina!) and the third one was a retirement. On the other hand, she did beat Borsanyi, a 26 year old with a CH ranking of 701 (last year).

It will be fun to watch her results but let's not go in with high expectations. The career path of youngsters is very unpredictable.

She is very strong for 14 yo girl, she looks like she spent lots of time in gym.... Game is one-dimensionality hard hitting, but she has time to improve that...

As expected, Nina enters the WTA singles rankings this week for the first time :yeah: She's at #1203, with 3 points from 3 tournaments.

She's one of only three 14-year olds in the rankings  (she was born in December 1998). The other two are Ines Ibbou (#954; Algeria) and Anastasia Nefedova (#1077; RUS), both born in January 1999.

Nina is playing in this week's G5, as the #4 seed.

In R1 and R2 she beat lower-ranked players in straights. In the QF she beat the #5 seed in three. In the SF she plays an unseeded 13 year old.

By the way, her ranking this week went from 756 to a CH 658, after the 1995 girls got dropped. She's now the #8 ranked Croatian girl. After today's result, her ranking will rise to ~570-580.

^ Won her SF match 3 and 2. She'll move up to ~540 (currently 658) and to #6 among Croatian girls (after Konjuh, Fett, Slavica, Basic and Granic).

In the final she plays an unranked 16 yo who came through qualifying.

Good luck, Nina!

Nina is playing $10K Brcko this week:

QR1: Bye

QR2: Beat an unranked 18 year old :cheer:

QR3: Lost to an unranked 17 year old

Got into the MD as a LL :cheer:

Drew the #3 seed, Spremo (#426), in R1

R1: Won 75 11 ret. :cheer:

She defended her one ranking point from $10K Brcko last year. Interesting that last year she also won her R1 match through retirement, then lost in R2 to Spremo!
