Here's what's will happen for next week.
The top 6 players in the world will get to compete in Sanex Championships in LA. The other 6 will compete in Linz, a tier 2 event.
The top 6 players will be divided into 2 groups of 3. They each play each other once. One player will be 2-0. The others will be 1-1. The way it will be decided is games won/loss ratio. Whoever has the better ratio is in the semis.
You WON'T be allowed to change points.
The Semi Finals will be as follows:
Player #1 from Group 1 vs. Player #2 from Group 2
Player #2 From Group 1 vs. Player #1 from Group 2
And then the finals.
With Davenport retiring, I don't believe Monica Seles can catch Martina Hingis (even by winning Zurich this week), so the top 6 are set.
The bottom 6 will play an event as normal. There won't be any doubles next week.
After next week, we'll take 2 weeks break, and then start with Season 2.
