After rising from the ashes in Cincinnati, Saint Venus continues her quest to win her long overdue 8th slam, save American tennis, and qualify for the Olympics in Tokyo.

Now 18 and 19 years after lifting the title, Ebony Starr (the statuesque statue of liberty herself) returns to Flushing Meadows to complete the hatrick. This slam has gotten away from us too many times :( …. prayers up for a deep run and another title!

[space reserved to insert photo of her third USO trophy lift in two weeks' time].

Yeah, her two titles here were so different and I LOOOOVED each one so much! Just so steady in 2001, absolutely NOTHING phased her. And incredible fight in 2000 to hold onto that win match streak and show that her one slam wasn't going to just be some wonder.

Ahh back then Vee was so calm, nothing fazed her.. Remember that stare down?! Anyway that is in the past...

Vee's body needs to hold up and mentally V needs to take her chances!!!

We need a deep run!

Vee is up on Monday! Third match on Louis Armstrong court

Yeah, her practices have looked very encouraging this week. Hopefully a good sign that she can bring a decent level to a R1 match for once. :tears:

She booked a practice court from 12:00-12:30pm today for her warmup.

Then her match is 3rd on Armstrong. The matches before her should be quick. I'm anticipating a 2:30pm local start time, though I'm selfishly hoping it gets pushed to 3:00.
