croatia hasn't played this event in such a long time.... oh well, maybe next year (although i think there are many countries that deserve to be in the play-offs more than hungary and canada)
Yes but they always like to invite different countries to play quallies, like last year Uzbekistan and Paraguay - who would have predicted that. Also perhaps players from Croatia (just using that as an example) didn't want to come. I know Federer was asked to play and there is no Swiss team. So just cause some countries aren't here doesn't mean they weren't asked, they could have just turned down the invite - who knows

I think if Sprem and Ancic continue to improve there will be a croatian team here in the next few years :)

Barbora is playing :hearts: :inlove: :D
Hey Kimmie's_Boy :worship:

Please tell me who is Barbora ???

I do have plan to visit Perth as usual. I hope to meet you there.
Go Canadaaaa!!! GOOOO Belgium too :yeah: Hopman Cup is so fun to follow. It must be fun for the players too. Not a lot of pressure, just a lot of fun and the practice is good for the season starting the week after!
Jiro,

Barbora Strycova is ranked about 130 she was world number 1 junior, this years junior aussie open champ and also 2002 aussie open junior champ. She also won junior wimbledon doubles in 2002 with Elke Clijsters. She qualiified for wimbledon this year and lost to Perebiynis - if I remember correctly in a very close match.

Tough draw for her, 3 top 10 players she could have had Molik or the qaulyfing team if the draw had fallen nicer for her, but hopefully she looks at this as a great opportunity and doesn't get intimidated and just goes out and shows watch she has. SHe is playing with Novak to, who should beat Santoro, Blake and well who knows about Safin, so they should be in some live mixed doubles matches :) which would be agreat experience for her :)

From what i have read she is a counter puncher, she is not the tallest or strongest girl out there, and is consistent, but I'm sure hse can hit many winners to.

I'm disappointed Hrbaty wont be in for Slovakia. I really enjoy seeing him play this competition. But understandable, since Kucera is now ranked higher.
Great choice for Czech female player too. It'll give her some good experience against top players. I'm looking forward to seeing her on tv if they show her matches.
I wonder what happened to all the other Czech girls? Barbora is ranked about 8th in the Czech Republic. Daja Bedanova fell out of contention halfway through the year, but what happened to Denisa Chladkova? Barbora is a good choice though. She's an up-and-coming player and this tournament will showcase her talents the way it did for Jelena Dokic and Virginie Razzano.

Chladkova doesn't play Fed Cup so maybe she was asked and said no, that is why I htought wither Benesova or koukalova would come for the czechs as they both play fed cup. Maybe they have points to defend that week, or perhaps McNamee just wanted a younger player to be in attendence
Wanted Jennifer & Robby Ginepri to represent the US!
GO!! Marat  and Anastasia :hearts:
Davai MARAT :worship:  :hearts: :bounce: and Nastya :D

Aus Scud-Molik
Usa Capriati-Roddick
Bel Clijsters-Oli :hearts:
Can Pellieter-Larose
Rus - Kafelnikov-Myskina
Fra - Loit-Grosjean
I think Chladkova would have been the more competitive player for the Czech team. She can handle top players better.
Barbora has hardly played any top players!
Shame.... i think Denisa would have been perfect for this! :(
