Drawing ceremony, Li Na wasn't there. She rejoined national team in December after she had made her mark by becoming the first Chinese woman to win a WTA singles title.

Reaching career high top33, Li Na broke China's record of top 36 maintained 6 years by her compatriot Li Fang.

That IS a smile It took me quite some time to decide this photo,the other two looks serious and another one with a forced smile It's not easy for her to win the title after 2 years of absence from tournaments with zero ranking.
CTA didnt give her WC for China open and Guangzhou Open, bcs she was not a member of the National Team then, had to play from qualifier :sad:

Na won three titles for the World Students Game, single, double and mixed double in 2001. Also, she won three titles in the National Game that year, sinlge, double and team, but early next year she retired. :sad: :tape:

May 07, Estoril Open, Na finally got a plate! Absolutely that was not a smile

One week before French Open, Li Na injured her ankle in Robat.:sad: The doctor suggested that she should rest up for at least 6 weeks. Thus she could not play French Open, Wimbledon...:sad: Since then the next half of 2005 nearly finished because of injuries and troubles with CTA...:sad:

By US Open Na got recovered if not fully, but she encountered World no.1, Lindsay, the 1st round.
Na put on a good fight and lost with a close scoreline, 4:6 4:6!! Lindsay my fave player, a respectful person

Sept.20, 2005, China Open

Na led the last two sets but ended up 6-4 6-7(4) 5-7. Match was suspended several times by rain and lasted 4 hours)

This 1st round exit made her very disappointed! She denied that rain, injury and home crowd could possibly be the reasons for the loss, but expressed her dissatisfaction that she was the only one without a formal coach since comeback to National Team. The coaching was holding her back with everybody following the same training plan which was aimless! (It's true and proved by jie in her interview.) She felt hopeless having no special plan for her since injured (May-Sept)...
Being the 1st one again to defy authority, she certainly received overwhelming pressure from all sidedness...

Looking back on China Open last year Sept.20-26 2004...

She played from qualifying rounds. Wild Cards were provided to her compatriots since she was not in National Team then, :sad:

Main Draw 1st round, Li vs Nicole Pratt

2nd round, Li vs Kuznetsova

Li Na came close to notching up her best-ever career win, but fell just short!
Holding a match point two times at 5-3 in the third set :fiery:

Kuznetsova took it 6-3 6-7(6) 7-6(3)! The year USO champion said she felt playing with a top5...

Na did not complain but gave herself a score of 95 poinets for her performance
