Makiri was a late scratch from Tokyo, so Petrova actually faced Peng first round. Nadia defeated her 1&4, and tilts the h2h in her favor, 4-3.

Nadia into Tokyo QF ! :bounce:

This 7-6 6-7 6-4 win should give Nadia more confidence. Great that she won such a close match. Excellent fight. Very good serving. 15 Aces. Martic had a bad serving day. 18 DFs are too much. Very happy for Nadia.

Errani next. Extremely annoying - such a pusher. Errani will definitely test Nadia`s movement. lol Nadia has to play very consistent tennis, be aggressive, not let Errani push her around. And she needs her serve.

Wow, Nadia climbed back into the match after being down in the second to upset Sara in three, 36 75 64!

Will play the semis against the winner of Azarenka/Kerber!

The No.17-seeded Petrova was the first of the pair to advance, though she had to pull off a Houdini act to do it - down 63 41 and double faulting to face a point for a 63 51 deficit, the Russian flipped the switch just in time, battling back to make it past No.6 seed Sara Errani in three grinding sets, 36 75 63.

"You never want to leave the court without giving everything you have, so even at a set and 4-1 down I still believed I could turn it around," Petrova said. "I was very happy to win this match."

Petrova, who is currently ranked No.18 in the world but is a former World No.3, is through to her biggest WTA semifinal in three years, since Beijing in 2009.

Wow, Nadia ran over Stosur, 4 & 2  H2h is now 6-3.

Who will she meet in the final? Angie or Aga?

She beat Aga in Tokyo in 2008, in her only win (1-3). She and Angie have never played.

:bolt:

Another Top 10 win for Nadia ! :speakles:

Head To Head against Stosur now 6-3. Solid performance from Nadia. Stosur was poor. Consistently attack Stosur`s weak backhand with high topspin was very smart. 9 Aces, no DF. 1st Serve % was only 36 % but Nadia still won in 2 sets. lol

Still can`t believe Nadia reached Tokyo final. What a dream week
