I think the Women`s Singles draw is wide open this year but some sections are very hard because of many great players.

Top half:

(1) Serena Williams:
I have often said that Serena had easy draws in Grand Slams but this time I have to admit that her quarter is not so easy. First match against Barbara Rittner - for Rittner! First real test should be either Mary Pierce or Barbara Schett in the third round. Don`t know what to expect of (16) Ai Sugiyama, once she plays unbelievable tennis and then she is far away from her best. Is she a difficult opponent for Serena? Serena`s quarterfinal match against either (5) Amélie Mauresmo or (9) Daniela Hantuchova is difficult. I expect Mauresmo to be there because of the way Hantuchova has played so far this year. I really hate the first round match between Mauresmo and Virginie Razzano. :fiery: :fiery: :fiery: I wanted Virginie to have a better draw.

(4) Justine Henin-Hardenne:
Henin-Hardenne`s quarter is the by far the easiest. All the seeds in her quarter are no so-called clay court specialists. I don`t really see her getting in trouble before the semis. Only test should be (8) Chanda Rubin in quarterfinals if she can make it there.

Bottom half:

(7) Jennifer Capriati/(3) Venus Williams:
I think this is the hardest quarter of the draw. Jennifer has to play against either (12) Monica Seles or (17) Amanda Coetzer. Monica first has to beat Nadia Petrowa in the first round. Is Monica fit this time? Is she able to beat Petrowa or will the first round be her last in RG 2003? If she makes it to the last 16 she is a very difficult and hard opponent for Jennifer. Venus is supposed to play against (26) Silvia Farina-Elia in the third round and (13) Elena Dementiewa in the round of last 16. It can be hard but it also can be easy. Farina-Elia and Dementiewa are no constant factors in Grand Slams. Hope to see Jen going through to semis!!! :hearts: :worship:

(6) Lindsay Davenport/(2) Kim Clijsters:
Another hard quarter! Lindsay is scheduled to face either (10) Jelena Dokic or (24) Conchita Martinez in the last 16. Dokic really played a chain of bad matches during her last tournaments. Due to that I expect Martinez to be Lindsay`s opponent. Clijsters draw is okay but not easy. First round against Amy Frazier, who is always able to beat a top player when she is at 100%. I think clay is not her surface although she was able to beat Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario in the second round here some years ago, so Clijsters should win that match. Third round against (30) Paola Suarez, so is Suarez able to cause some trouble? Last 16 against either (15) Magdalena Maleeva or (20) Elena Bowina. Maleeva first has to win against Alicia Molik. Hope, Alicia can do it! :worship:

Most interesting first round matches:
(1) Serena - Rittner: Hope, Rittner can do well, even one close set like e. g. 6/4!

Pierce - (28) Fernandez: Want Mary to win! Will Fernandez go back there where she came from after this loss? She didn`t have any other good result.

(18) Shaughnessy - Kuznetsowa: Three tough sets with Kuznetsowa to win!

Razzano - (5) Mauresmo: Want Virginie to win but it won`t happen. Close match I hope! :worship: We need Mauresmo to show a good fight against Serena in quarterfinals.

(17) Coetzer - Srebotnik: Three tough sets with Coetzer to win!

Petrowa - (12) Seles: Re-match of Italian Masters second round. If Monica is fit, she`ll do it, if not Petrowa is going to destroy her. Sorry!

(15) Maleeva - Molik: I`m cheering for Alicia!!!

Frazier - (2) Clijsters: Two close sets for Clijsters!

What do you think about the draw?

well, my thoughts- if JuJu or Kim don't make it somewhere near the final.... Serena's draw to me is not that tough...Venus's is---you have Elena D. there but i see a much tougher Vera Z. coming out in that side....yeah, JuJu definitely has it easiest!! Hantuchova...yeah, right? Amelie should get through but who knows how her nerves will stand up! Monica- poor girl, i dont' see her making too far with her recent injuries etc. Jen- has a decent draw. I think it IS wide open..with a few for sures ;)

Go Venus :bounce: :bounce: I still think Kim will win it though :)

Dokic vs Martinez AGAIN: Being there 12th on tour I think Jelena will beat Martinez because Jelena has admitted that she has had a problem this year but you can never discount her out of anything I think it will be a close match but Jelena in two sets 6-4 7-6 aslo further to the point Jelena to win the tournament beating roesch, pisnik, martinez, davenport, clijsters, capriati and justine in the final (tough to say but she can do it !!!)

Go Jeca bring the title home as well as yourself the Aussie Open is not the same neither is the fed cup team.

Although molik, pratty, stubbsy and sammy did there best in Spain

I think we can call it that Justine really has the easiest draw. I think Serena's draw says Quarters here she comes, as well as Venus Williams draw. I see no reason why they shouldn't be in the quarters. They have figured out the clay courts, and are only loosing to the top players right now. Kim Clijsters, she just won Rome, and has shown she can put up a good fight on the red clay. But what we fail to realize that clay really isn't her best surface in my opinion. She does so much sliding on the hardcourts, she slides even more on the red, which hinder's her time for resetting and getting ready for the next ball. I think Amy Frazier will not be a test, i say this b/c the gurl either comes out firing or she comes out all over the damn place. Odds are the second choice. But I think she will have some problems. Its clay and anything can happen. I would say that about the WS' but hell, they've shown that nothin really is going to happen with them.

Jennifer and Monica, well its a quarter or whatever, but they both look in their draws to me, that they may have to get through some bumps in the road. Rankings wise it will be a major thing for Jennifer to get to semis or better, or she will officially be a number 7 for the rest of the year. Amelie has proven she is better than her right now, Jen Jen is going to have to pick it up.

That is how I sum it up. I think Serena is going to have her game bar up dramatically high, and we are going to be talking about her whomping opponents. I think she loves the idea that people are considering her the "high" favorite anymore, and she wants to set the record straight. Kim Clijsters, i really feel sorry for her. If she meets Venus in the Semi-finals, I think Venus is going to dimiss her in straight sets, and that will really say something about who is number 2 really (even though we already know who the true 1 is). Im glad to see this matchup, for personally I feel they should've played a lil more often this year, since they are wanting to contend or compete for that rank :)

oh and im meant to hit on lindsay davenport. I think Amelie will pass her for number 5, b/c her second round opponent seems like an even better chance to take Linsday out than for Lindsay to take her out. That is Iroda, and she is playing very well on the clay right now. Lindsay better be on and better watch out. In Australia she gave her all the damn problems she could handle.

Dont worry about Lindsay She can handle Anybody easily up to quarters.
Worry about your fave Serena, I hope she wont get victimized by Schett as she did to her older sis before.

Hey Arn!
Do you remember how Zvonareva got crushed last year when she took a set from Serena?I don´t think she will cause Venus any trouble.
