I have read many, many posts about how Kim doesn't deserve #1 in recent weeks but I ask you this:
Would we even be having this debate if the Williams sisters played more tournaments?? I don't know exact numbers of events for each sister but surely they would be struggling to reach the minimum number of 17.
We then have to ask ourselves:
Should Kim Clijsters, who is simply fulfilling her duties to the tour and her sponsors by playing week in/week out, cut back her schedule just so the rankings reflects true abilities????? I think not.
It doesn't take a genius to know who is the better player - there is no doubting that Serena is the supreme player on tour but would we be having this argument right now if she had perhaps played 4-5 more events in the last 12 months?? I don't think that is to much to ask.
