Smets is doing lots of races. I don't see how he can do well in MX when he's also doing the 650cc

Well, the MXGP is driven first, so no worries he can be tired for that race. Joel is still really focussing on the MXGP...and he is only 6 points behind Pichon in the World Championship, so lots of thing can happen. But he's still going for both world titles, and he's really capable of doing that. ;)
If he wins tomorrow at least 1 GP, he equals second best Joel Robert with 50 GP-wins. Everts leads that record with 54 GP-wins.

*note* Smets had some clutch problems during his free and qualifying session.

GP MXPG

1 Pichon (FRA)
2 Crockard (GBR) +2.9
3 Smets (BEL) +4.8
4 Everts (BEL) +24.2
5 Bervoets (BEL) +26.3
6 Jorgensen (DAN)
7 Federici (ITA)
8 Gundersen (NOR)
9 Cooper (GBR)
10 Ristori (SUI)
11 Atsuta (JPN)
12 Caps (BEL)
13 Strijbos (BEL)
14 Noble (GBR)
15 McFarlane (AUS)
16 Martin (FRA)
17 Aubert (FRA)
18 Dorsch (GER)
19 A Leok (EST)
20 Dobb (GBR)

Pichon had the hole shot, had a small gap in the beginning but Crockard pushed hard and reduced the gap within a second. Smets and Everts were fighting too long to pass Jorgensen who was in 3th that time. When Smets passed the Danish rider he had a gap of 9 seconds on leader Pichon. Smets had the same lap times as the top two, but at the fast circuit, it was hard to catch up some time. At the end he was the fastest and finished only 4 seconds behind Pichon. Everts had a poor run and finished 4th, 24 seconds behind the Frenchman.
