i dont get it. have those players all been beat by players ranked below them or are they the ones doing the "upsetting"?

When No.30 beats No.25 is it an upset? Or when No.8 beats No.7?..

Poor Martina she hasn't been having a good run after Tokyo. Oh i think its because of pain from her hip? You know she's a private person not telling everybody out there this or that excuse only when she can't really play. duh.

Wrong.. The only ones allowed to lose matches because of injuries, even when those are years past away are Venus and Serena. The rest are just faking losers.

Let's get off it. ;)

You like it that way because it
gives you something more to say
against them, even though some
fans (not they) use injuries
as excuses, no matter how true
or false.

You play into this notion and
you love it! Admit it!

IMO, players play or don't with injuries.
They know the score and they deal with
whatever may come of the decisions.

It's the stupid and petty crap of so
many fans and the sort that try and turn
it into so many stupid things for the purpose
to get at someone.

Yes, anytime you beat someone ranked above you it is an upset.
i strongly disagree. when Serena beat players like Peer, Jankovic (at the AO) it was by no means an upset. when ALG is beaten it ain't an upset.

Where do you draw the line then? That is a judgment call. You have to record upsets numerically because what is an upset to one person, may not be an upset to another.

So by your rules you would say that Groenefeld has not been upset this year? I think that's kind of ridiculous. It is newsworthy because she is being upset all over the place.

it ain't an upset, because we all know it's going to happen:p
i agree that it is a subjective decision, but an upset in my book means sth. unexpected.
