Monique is a bit of a tennis non-entity but I think she doesn't help herself by not playing regularly or committing to tennis. Billie Jean King recommended Monique for wild cards when she was starting out so obviously she has seen something there so hopefully Monique can start winning a few more matches.

Monica is always very generous in complimenting other players so when she says that she isn`t impressed then I guess it is not a good sign.

I think not playing juniors was not a very good idea, I know Venus and Serena did neither but they had at least each other as measure and I believe Monica was kept out of the junior circuit too but Andre was her measure(that`s from an old article I read) so they were exceptions.

Monique is already being surpassed by players her own age like Lina Krasnoroutskaya, who is only 6 months older than Monique and is already ranked in the top 40, with a grand slam quarterfinal under her belt. Also, younger players like Ashley Harkleroad, Dinara Safina, etc. already have better results than her. You're wasting your time on Monique. <br />I also read something about her mom saying "she is better than seles", who does she think she is anyway? Also, i was less than amused about the pictures on her site... they borderline on soft porn. Go back to school, Monique!!!!

from the book Venus Envy, it says before her WTT match against Monica she came onto court wearing high heels and sung the national anthem.

As for her tennis ? I've seen kids of 6/7 play better stuff.

Monique dropped some tournaments at the end of the year, so her ranking is in about the 1000-1200 range.

I can't say that I feel much sympathy for her. She's brought so much pressure on herself. Okay, so her parents and Rick Macci mostly did that, but she hasn't exactly helped herself by attempting to add singer and actress to her resume. If she wants to get people off her back, she's got to start winning matches, plain and simple. So far, she's nothing to glowingly crow about. Hit the courts, or hit the books, Monique! Or grab a mike and go karaoke in some strip club.
