Personally I think that Monica should skip the French to rest her foot, and then focuse all her energy on Wimbledon in what might be her last try.

ditto. and even though the foot isn't ready for Wimbledon, she should skip that too. it's better to miss events and be healthy than to play and screw up ur health problems even more

what exactly is wrong with her foot? I think I knew at one point, but don't know anymore...

oh monica.. I worry about you. I want you to be healthy and play until you are ready to retire. I don't want you to be hurried into retirement because of an injury.. but sadly this is so often the case...

there are few players that I can say I will truly shed a tear about when they retire, but Monica will certainly be one of them... the possibilities were just endless...

I think Monica should take off up to the rest of the year, and then focus on making next year her last year and having a good healthy last year...I feel she wants to play as much as she can this year because it will probably be her last and she isnt letting her foot heal enough because of that.

I agree that Monica should skip the french and give Wimbledon one last try

either that, or come back strong for the Hardcourt season

it's so hard to find the fine balance between playing as much as you can cuz retirement is not that far away..and trying to stay healthy and rested up.

come back strong monica...we're waiting for ya! :D

I sadly think the end may have already arrived.
Well I hope your wrong - cause she has already said she does want to play the French. We will see her again:wavey: But as I said in another thread - she needs to have the surgery and just get prepared for next years run at the Grand Slams - might as well get that foot fixed and play next year - she will only be 30! I pray that this is not it - but something tells me she is not done yet.

hopefully this innovative foot laser treatment that she is having is a smashing success... that's all i hope for right now. i don't think this is the last match she will ever play on the tour. that's all i can think to say. im stunned right now.

I couldn't agree more. What's the rush? If surgery would help, why not take it? This reminds me too much of how stubborn she was in 1996, when she had shoulder problems and refused to take the time off to heal.
Billie Jean King had a ton of knee surgeries and was winning slams in her 30s. Monica isn't even 30 yet.

The sad thing is if Monica lost weight and took care of herself she could still win slams. She was (and could be again) that good.
