Well, I just lost the report I wrote, so here's the long and short of it:

-There are definitely different levels between qualifiers and main draw players. You can see it in Fedak versus Serra Zanetti. Fedak was impressive, but I don't see her getting a big win b/c of a lack of a weapon... The Serra Zanetti's are unimpressive...

-I saw Tu, Lee, and Lui practicing. They looked happy. Lee was limping, Lui had a good coach IMO, and Tu was smiling.

-Weingartner and Gagliardi had a sloppy match with many errors.

-Bartoli and Kirilenko had a good match, and I was really looking forward to this one. I saw both players pratice beforehand, and got their autographs. Bartoli scowled at everyone and everything, even in the match. I didn't like her attitude, but her game was incredible. She's so talented (that return is crazy! She'll struggle against big servers, though) and her conditioning really has improved. She was strong in the upper body as well, hitting difficult shots down the line. Maria was not "match tough", and it showed in not converting two break points to break when Marion was serving for the first set. Also, 4-0 down in the second, Maria won three straight games, but was still down a break. Here, Marion took a bathroom break (gamesmanship?), and won the next two games and match.

Yes, I only went on Monday...

Are you serious you were there?!? I think I remember a group of ball boys watching, but there were so many of them, I don't know who you were...I was there at the very beginning of her practice. She actually was sitting in the table area when I first got there. I was wearing a green shirt btw...

I got to the practice session like 10-15 minutes in I think. There was a large group of Kirlenko-admiring ballkids at a table on Maria's side. And when she left the court, we followed her around a bit. But we were heading in the same direction.... Or at least that's what I'm sticking to.

I don't particularly remember anyone taking pictures. But I wasn't really taking note of who was watching... I was mainly watching Maria. And I was also at the first set of her match against Marion. There was the same group of Kirilenko-admiring ballkids on the opposite side of where you were sort of up in the stands. We were cheering for her a lot... I don't know if you remember.

I have been at the Women's Tournament every day. It's been so exciting!
