Well it looks like not even the closest people to Elena have that much faith in her when it comes to beating the top players.
Mary Joe Fernandez continues to of course make her money by usually just kissing Lindsay's ass but actually told an interesting story during the Indian Wells finals.
Mommy Vera supposedly made reservations for a plane to Miami on Fri.
Reasons being because they had serious things to do in Miami and she didn't think Elena could get pass Justine.
Well its looks like those reservations had to be cancelled after Elena did beat Justine.
I can understand Mommy Vera's outlook considering Elena's record against either of the Belgians but you would hope she would have a little bit more belief in her daughter.
I just wonder how much that happens with the top players.
I remember watching Venus & Serena during their reality show last year and not remembering seeing them make reservation ahead of time for departing until they lost.
I do remember Lindsay talking about taking a break in Bali with her hubby even before the US Open started last year.
Considering that break would have only been 3 days at most if Lindsay would have won the US Open, it's not too far of a stretch to consider that possibly Lindsay made plans for Bali knowing she was going to lose earlier than expected at US Open.
Considering her preparation for it, I can understand why if that is the case.

She was just playing safe. Suppose the flights are more expensive on the day (not that Elena couldn't afford it, but still) and there might not be a guranteed seat on a plane for when Elena does lose.

Actually, that's pretty typical for players, even the very top players, to make reservations and cancel them. Most players like to get out of town as soon as they lose, especially when they're playing in a tournament the next wee, too. I don't know if it's so much as lack of faith in their chances, or for convenience sake to make sure they have a seat on the plane.

I don't think there's usually an issue with players having to reserve seats quickly since players like elena - top players in general - can get business or first class seats anyway.
