The bad news is that yesterday Mirjana lost her doubles match at Midland: BRODSKY (USA) / LITVAK (USA) defeated LARRIERE (FRA) / LUCIC (CRO) 1-6 6-2 [10-6]

The good news is that today Mirjana won her singles match! She beat in-form Boserup easily, 62 63

R2 is against Brengle, who crushed #4 Falconi 61 62.

Good luck, Mirjana!

Nice job. Playing the doubles yesterday helped her get her groove for the singles today.

Better Brengle than Falconi. Falconi's ranked 83 (CH 73) whereas Brengle is 182 (CH 152). Already this year Brengle has lost to Garcia, El Tabakh and Glatch, who are all ranked lower than Mirjana. And until this week, her biggest scalp this year was Burnett (216).

Don't let this chance get away, Mirjana!

Mirjana's 2012 season so far cannot be considered a success. Still, points-wise, it's much better than 2011 by this time:

2011: Auckland, 6; Sydney, 1; AO, 5 = 12 pts
2012: Brisbane, 1; Sydney, 8; AO, 40; Midland, 18 = 67 pts

Basically it says how Mirjana won't be playing Olympics.
In Croatian tennis Federation they can't forgive her because she canceled Fed Cup due to shoulder injury and then played Midland two days later.
In Federation they believe Mirjana didn't play in Israel because they didn't want to pay plain ticket for her sister. Also she gave them no medical documentation that could confirm she was injured.

Majoli said: Many were saying how I shouldn't believe Mirjana, how she pulled out many times. But I believed until the last moment that she's gonna come back to the team. I'm very sad that she didn't kept to our
agreement. For now I can only say that I'm surely not gonna register her for Olympics in London. If she was playing in Israel I would, this way I'm not gonna. For now I can't say if I'm gonna invite her to play for the team ever again, but I think I wont...

Mirjana: I didn't wanted to take place in the team, I wanted to give a chance to younger girls since I was not ready to play. I was resting my shoulder last week and decided to play in Midland without training. And as it goes for the money, I arranged the same conditions as all other players. If the decision that I'm not gonna play in London is final, I will be very disappointed. I always wanted to play Olympics and now it seems I will have to end my career without ever playing Olympics.

Hmm.. I knew this would happen the moment she canceled Midland.

To quote myself from January 26th:

i hope she understands that with this she's not gonna be able to play Olympics even if she gets her ranking high enough. and she was talking a lot about wanting to win a medal. well, you're not gonna get a better chance than wimbledon. also, if injury was that serious how can she know already that she's gonna be ready to play midland that starts day later? unfortunately, i don't buy it

Mirjana was on the Entry List for Memphis qualies, but her name's not in the Q draw. Unless she got a MD WC, which seems unlikely, I guess she won't be playing next week.

happy she's in main draw. But, it is weird. Hampton was above her in the alternates list, was ranked higher at the cut=off. Brianti is beatable on indoor hard.
