Martina's Condition???

Just found this on the CNNSI board- don't know the source:


"It's a very disappointing way to finish this match. I was really looking forward to playing Lindsay again. She wrong footed me on break point at 1-all and I heard these two loud clicks in my right ankle. Right now it's swollen and hurts a lot. I am leaving for Zurich as soon as I can, and will undergo further examination and an MRI there. I am not sure right at the moment how bad it is, it will take a couple of days to see that. I am still planning on playing the Swisscom Challenge in Zurich next week."

I agree. Bad year or not, Martina is still one of the major personalities in our sport.

Her name has now disappeared from the Zurich draw- replaced by #9 seed Testud ??? She msut ahve gotten some bad news. <IMG SRC="smilies/sad.gif" border="0">

Amazing. In spite of everything, the one thing Martina always had going for her was her durability. Now she loses the #1 ranking by getting injured during a match.

What a shame to lose the #1 spot like that.
Hope its not incredibly serious.
