I would think she probably would not have the time to find one and gel with one, but then agai who would say no to Martina (appart from Todd)

Not brain damage...at least not at this stage. He's still awaiting diagnosis, but its a lesion on the brain which could be an abcess or a tumour.

There was a rumour about John McEnroe, but I think (hope) she takes it too seriously to do that.

I would think she would sit this one out and not be so self-centered.

I'm not really sure how finding another partner to play mixed doubles with would make Martina self-centred. I am sure that is what Leander would expect.

Hope we hear some good news about his condition soon.

I think the real question is- Which men are willing to play mixed doubles? The top men haven't played mixed doubles regularly since the Aussie dynasty back in the 50s, 60s and early 70s. Martina certainly could have her pick of any number of doubles specialists with mediocre doubles rankings, but at her age she needs someone with a little carrying ability, if the truth be told. I don't see John McEnroe even considering it- a tennis court can only hold so much ego, and a McEnroe/Navratilova effort at a major this late in their games would be pretty injurious to their PRIDE!

Paes's cyst could be common infection, says medic

Leander Paes, who is being treated for a brain cyst in the United States, could be suffering from an infection common in India, the doctor attending to him said.

"While not yet proven in Leander's situation, one rather common infection in India causing such a brain lesion is cysticercus granuloma caused by the larval form of a tapeworm," Dr. Clarence Brown, President Chairman of the MD Anderson Caner Centre, where Paes is being treated, said on Thursday.

Brown said results of numerous tests on Paes are still being awaited.

"He is no longer experiencing headaches and his vision is normal. He remains in excellent spirits and is physically active," Brown said.

Paes reportedly suffered severe headaches during his first round doubles match last week in Cincinnati, Ohio, and later checked himself into an emergency room near his Orlando base three days later.

He was moved to MD Anderson Cancer Centre after a scan revealed lesion in his brain's left occipital region.

He was to team up with former partner Mahesh Bhupathi at the $355,000 ATP Tour event in Long Island, New York, this week but the duo withdrew due to Leander's illness.

Mark - Not 'bad blood' as such, was just that they teamed up for the US Open a year or two ago, they lost, Todd dumped Martina as a partner after that - which was lucky cuz the next year Martina kicked his and Rennae's butt who were # 1 seeds...

Paes in "Stable Condition"
from atptennis.com

Indian star Leander Pars is in stable condition at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Orlando, Florida. The 30-year-old was taken to hospital on Sunday after suffering from headaches and was transferred to the Cancer Center near his home in Orlando on Tuesday.

A hospital statement released on Thursday said: "Still awaiting results of numerous tests, his doctors are treating him with antibiotics for a possible brain abscess. While not yet proven in Leander's situation, one rather common infection in India causing such a brain lesion is cysticercus granuloma, caused by the larval form of a tapeworm. He is no longer experiencing headaches and his vision is normal. Leander remains in excellent spirits and is physically active."

Paes, who has won 27 doubles titles during his career so far, including three in 2003 in Delray Beach (w/Zimonjic), Dubai and Gstaad (w/Rikl), also has won three Grand Slam doubles titles (w/Bhupathi). The former doubles No. 1 also has won mixed doubles titles this year at the Australian Open and Wimbledon with Martina Navratilova.

I think that it´s a fact that the mixed thing isn´t released since the middle of the first week and it´s about a week for Martina to find someone new and maybe spectacular. I think that the "best" mixers and doublers already have committed to play and it would not surprise me if any of the BIG names is asked by Martina for just an exhibition effect maybe

I think she´s so much with Leander and his crisis that it´s good she chooses someone she maybe isn´t so successful with but she shares fun with and relax for the women´s doubles. She needs to put some space between her/Sveta and Cara/Elena.

Get well soon, Leander !!
