Unfortunately Craig took it upon himself to orchestrate a scheme to attempt to bypass Australian Law & subsequently got caught - and now the spotlight is on the mess he created.
He and whoever authorised his actions should be removed from their positions at TA, as he has brought the tournament and Australia into disrepute.

Disagree. The Australian Open has thrived and grown under Craig Tiley's leadership for many years. What has brought Australia into disrepute is your government and, sorry to say, the fickle and overly-judgemental nature of much of the Australian general public themselves, who elected and continue to support a government of COVID control freaks.

Hopefully justice prevails and the judge overrules this corrupt government.
Nothing corrupt about it. The fact of the matter is that Djokovic's medical exemption reason does not comply with requirements of the Commonwealth of Australia. They sent a letter to both TA and the Victorian government that simply testing positive for COVID-19 was not a legit reason for a medical exemption. A person needed to test positive and have serious complications, like hospitalization. And that was supposed to be by Dec. 10. Novak's positive case was on Dec. 16, and he wasn't hospitalized. In fact, he felt so good, he went to an awards event with kids, and a photoshoot. And then he flew to Spain.

No, more like Australia has actually taken COVID seriously, unlike the US, where people still think it's a hoax, still think it's the flu, think it's OK that a certain percentage of people die from it, think they know more than doctors, and think wearing masks are an attack on personal freedoms.

Tiley knew the COVID exemption requirements, and overlooked them to try to get his most successful champion into the country. And it's blown up in his face.

The vaxxer narrative is completely falling apart in the US. The Supreme Court just struck down Biden's vaccine mandates. No one elected doctors to run our country.

The midterm elections in November will be devastating for any politicians who make the foolish choice to run on a vaxxer/COVID paranoia platform.

Are you a doctor? Do you know more than a doctor? Didn't think so.

And that's why the US far and away leads the way in COVID deaths. Amazing for a first-world country that claims to be the greatest in the world. People in this country whine about freedoms, but don't want to shoulder any of the responsibility that comes with those freedoms. Don't want to wear masks. Don't want to social distance. Don't want to get vaccinated. Don't want to be in lockdown. Don't want to do ANYTHING to try to mitigate this virus. All people like you want to do is politicize it.

But then you have the nerve to complain about other countries who actually are doing something to mitigate the spread of the virus. Other countries are lapping the US, and being proactive to curve the spread of this virus. Why? Because they listen to doctors and follow science. Not politicians and idiots with no medical degrees like the MyPillow guy and Joe Rogan. And people aren't giving up their freedoms either. They, unlike you, care about their fellow citizen instead of only themselves.

No one elected Supreme Court justices either. Their decision is ideological and along predicted party lines and has diddly squat to do with any narrative "completely falling apart". The Supreme Court didn't consult public opinion before their judgement, so your portrayal makes no sense.

Please take your gratuitous displays of morality and your "follow the science" BS to the COVID thread. Off topic here.

Says the person talking about a "vaxxer narrative" in the US. You want to call out Australia's COVID policies, then that makes America's policies fair game. You just sound salty because Australia's doing it better than the US.

The Supreme Court? You mean that bunch of judges that Donald Trump flooded with far right nationalist loonys?

I remember the days when it was possible believe you were a sincere Democrat, albeit a rather centrist, establishment orientated one. But these days you just come across as another Trumpian Q-Anon Republican nutter. You might as well just admit you have shifted to the dark side.

Imagine your gall and hypocrisy to accuse me of being a Trump supporter when i worked far harder than you did to make sure that he was voted out of office, and am working far harder than you to stop him from getting back in there. Come to politics if you want to argue about this, i haven't seen you there in half a year.

Fine. The Supreme Court judges were not elected. Let's see where politicians position themselves as we start to slide into campaign season.

He doesn't speak for most American's feelings and attitudes about covid. The majority of americans are vaccinated and believe in science and doctors.

Thats the problem/thing, Novak has no dignity, no where with all, no humility, he can't see past his own ego. In the end, Novak's ego is and will always be his downfall. Novak being apart of the GOAT discussion, is the worst thing to happen to him, he's in turn has let the fame/notoriety go to his head, to the point that he believes his name can and should carry him above any consequences of his actions, no matter how detrimental they may be to those around him. Very selfish and self centered of him.

Tsitsipas can be annoying sometimes but he is the most charismatic male tennis player from his generation by far and the most resembling to a star.
Charasmatic? Tsitsipas? he comes across as a boring, arty farty type student who you can imagine sitting on an old fishing boat as sun is setting talking about world peace and saving the planet, I have more charisma in my left toe

Most politicians are totally corrupt, why would Australian ones be any different?

If you don't think the vaccine has lead to tremendous money transfers, then you will never understand it.

I think both things are true here. Tiley has done a great job over the years. Tiley has messed up this year. He didn't read the room and now he has this situation. I hope he keeps his position as he has done a lot of good, but there are consequences to actions and his actions with Djokovic / etc seem to be against the Australian government.

To me it is important to not push ones political views into another country's situation. The US has the worst covid response (in terms of deaths) but the most freedoms. Live free or die, right? Australia has one of the best covid responses but fewer freedoms. One country (or citizen) telling the other what they should do isn't fair as that citizen has completely different lived experiences.

I liked him a lot at first, his game and also that he seemed a bit different and weird, in a good way, but I started to find him increasingly annoying since 2020, and he definitely took things too far last year with all the blatant coaching, diva antics and 15 minutes long tactical toilet breaks. I hope he can mature and tone it down a bit, because he's really great to watch when he is on.
