Anyone know her schedule for after aus???

I would guess:
Sydney
Aus
Tokyo
Scottsdale
INdian Wells
Key Biscayne

But after that I am lost...will she play Charleston and Amelia again or opt for one of those and hamburg with berlin and rome?

her schedule doesn't seem to change THAT much each year, but i am just wondering...

Thanks to anyone who can help...

Also, does anyone know where and how many tournaments martina and anna will play doubles together?

I hope they play at most tournaments, cause martina needs to play doubles IMO - it helps her game.

And if Anna isn't at a tournament, then i still hope martina plays doubles, with someone like lindsay, monica, jelena, ai, martina - aslong as she plays doubles!

I'm sure she will be playing Antwerp as she has to play 2 new events that she hasn't played in last 2 years, (All Gold exempt list players have to do this.)

Plus I heard Octagon was running this as well.

martinafan .... this is the ruling (its short and to the point)

c. Two New Tournaments
Gold Exempt Players must commit to two (2) Tournaments in which they have not participated during the previous two (2) years

oh ok! thanks for that - so those 2 new tournaments can be of any tier, aslong as they haven't played them in the last two years.....interesting!!

How about this for Martina's schedule in 2002:???
* = tournament not played in last 2 years (2 min)

Jan 7 Sydney
Jan 14 Aus Open
Jan 21 Aus Open
Jan 28 Tokyo Pan Pacific
Feb 4
Feb 11 Antwerp*
Feb 18 Dubai
Feb 25 Scottsdale
Mar 4 Indian Wells
Mar 11 Indian Wells
Mar 18 Miami
Mar 25 Miami
Apr 1
Apr 8
Apr 15
Apr 22
Apr 29 Hamburg
May 6 Berlin
May 13 Rome
May 20
May 27 Roland Garros
Jun 3 Roland Garros
Jun 10
Jun 17 Eastbourne*
Jun 24 Wimbledon
Jul 1 Wimbledon
Jul 8
Jul 15
Jul 22
Jul 29 San Diego
Aug 5 Los Angeles
Aug 12 Canadian Open
Aug 19
Aug 26 US Open
Sep 2 US Open
Sep 9
Sep 16
Sep 23
Sep 30 Moscow
Oct 7 Filderstadt
Oct 14 Zurich
Oct 21
Oct 28 Sanex Champs
TOTAL = 22 tournaments

Why don't all us Martina fans try to come to what we think would be the perfect schedule for Martina in 2002???? Bearing in mind she has to play 2 tournaments this year that she hasn't played in the past 2 years.

It will be interesting to see if what we come up with is similar to what martina plays!

Yep, I agree with you there Hoon - i think it will be 2 out of those 4 aswell, but bahia is right after us open, and linz is right after moscow-fild-zurich and before sanex champs, which she seems to play every year so I ruled those two out...

that's why i thought antwerp and eastbourne....i've always wanted her to play eastbourne - i think it would be the best preparation for wimby!

GO MARTINA!

Dean, that looks good. I'd like to see her play Pilot Pen instead of Dubai next year, but I know she loves Dubai and they offer her some nice $$, so I would go there too!

Joshua, if Martina played in Pilot Pen that would be too much for her hard court preparation.

I think what she's doing now is enough, if anything less, since hardcourts can be very demanding on the body.

She'd be tired out by the time she gets to New York.

---------

I would also like to see her playing Hamburg again

---------

I like Dean's schedule above

She might play a Tier III like she has in 00 and 01

S'Hertengenbosch in 2000
Doha in 2001

She might play Luxembourg.

I'd go for Antwerp and Eastbourne ( she will need some grass match play)

She could indeed TBE...u never know!

But it seems like we are all thinking Antwerp and Eastbourne....

I REALLY hope she does play Eastbourne - i've been wanting her to play it for years!!! it would be the best preparation for her for wimby...i always think she's unprepared for Wimby.

If Martina plays Antwerp, I'm guessing that she probably won't play Dubai. I think that one of the major reasons she played Dubai was to make up for dropping Philadelphia. She played Doha to make up for dropping s'Hertogenbosch. Not sure why she played Amelia Island.

My guess for Martina's schedule in 2002:

Sydney (Tier 2)
Melbourne (GS)
Tokyo (Tier 1)

Antwerp (Tier 2)

Scottsdale (Tier 2)
Indian Wells (Tier 1)
Miami (Tier 1)
Charleston (Tier 1)

Hamburg (Tier 2)
Berlin (Tier 1)
Rome (Tier 1)

Roland Garros (GS)

Wimbledon (GS)

San Diego (Tier 2)
Los Angeles (Tier 2)
Montreal (Tier 1)

New York (GS)

Leipzig (Tier 2)
Moscow (Tier 1) (I thought this tournament was cancelled?)
Filderstadt (Tier 2)
Zurich (Tier 1)

Tour Championships

I like your schedule Dean, it seems well balanced.

I think Martina will play 20 Tournaments/14 doubles
