Maria's breakthrough at last?
Best win out of her career, definitely.
I've never seen her play but I heard she's like Davenport a lot, she hits hard and goes for every shot.
Keep going Maria! :)

I've seen Maria play in person and the player she reminds me of most of all is Daniela Hantuchova. They both have technically sound ground strokes and good serves. But Maria is not yet in Dani's league as far as volleying or serving go. But I think she has a litle more power than Dani does at this point.

Maria's basic problem is just consistency. Dechy I think was the perfect opponent for Maria to test her stuff on a faster surface.

But she has got away to go so let's see what happens.

i think her best win was over Maleeva in Hong Kong'03 were she won 6-3 6-0 or 6-0 6-3.

Poor Placid Parisian. (Perfectly Passive Player)!
Dechy isn't passive by any means.

I just mean Nat's all defense like Smash. Look @ her W/UE stats sometime. She's had 0's for entire sets in each, though I haven't noticed the 0's @ the same time. Probably's happened, though. She switches coaches alot, too. Georges Goven (a year plus now) is one of the longer lasting ones. Momo's coach Courteau (also ex-coach of Loit) couldn't work with her, as she wouldn't vary shots, etc. The other players like her almost without exception, I'm told.

.KournikovA. Maria's win over Maleeva was in an exhibition tournament. So that win doesn't count.
