It's a loss for me (who doesn't get to see him there) and for the tournament. The most exciting player is out .

I hope he comes to support his sister.

(From bbc.co.uk)

Former world number two Marat Safin has withdrawn from next week's French Open due to a wrist injury.

The Russian has been resting the problem in recent weeks but has not recovered in time to play at Roland Garros.

American Robby Ginepri - suffering from a similar injury - has also pulled of the clay court Grand Slam, which begins next Monday.

Replacing former US Open champion Safin and Ginepri in the main draw will be American Cecil Mamiit and Argentine Mariano Puerta.

Get well soon Marat and Robby

It's confirmed:

Safin pulls out of French Open

.c The Associated Press

PARIS (AP) - Former U.S. Open champion Marat Safin withdrew from the French Open on Monday with a wrist injury.

American Robby Ginepri also pulled out with a similar injury, tournament organizers said in a statement. The clay-court event starts at Roland Garros on May 26.

American Cecil Mamiit and Mariano Puerta of Argentina will replace them in the draw.

On the women's side, Luxembourg's Anne Kremer pulled out with a wrist injury and Sweden's Asa Svensson did the same because of an ankle injury.

They will be replaced by Japan's Akiko Morigami and Libuse Prusova of the Czech Republic.

The best tournament of the year without my fav player :( Damn sucks

Maratski has been a non-entity in all major tournaments this year. I wonder if he needs a surgery or not?

And I don't dare to think about his ranking. At least he had no results after RG last year

The Russian team Marat/Kafelnikov (I think it was Yvegeny) pulled out due to injuries and were replaced by the USA (Blake/Fish)
