Majoli about to retire??

She's pissed at her game
She's not commited to any events (except for next in for qualies)
And I just read that she is going to do some charity event at Siroki Brijeg with Goran Ivanisevic (not oficially retired, but done) and Zvonimir Boban (retired footballer) next month.

She talked about retiring after Wimbledon and has only played the US Open since then (where she lost 1 and 1 to Likhovtseva  )

I really hope she isn't done, but I'm afraid she is

At 24 I cant really see this happening, I think it would be sad, but really her game is so shit right now.
It'll be a real shame if she throws in the towel now after a mild resurgence to form last season. She showed that she still have the game to at *least* hang around in the top 30 when things are coming together, but she's quickly gone downhill again with some dreadful losses this entire season sadly. Hopefully she won't lose faith, and work even harder. She's still got a few more years left in her if she's willing to put in the full effort.
I wouldn't be surprised to be honest.

I think the problem for Iva Majoli ( and also for Mirjana Lucic to some extent ) is that they've always played tennis because they were good at it rather than playing it because they love the game and are good at it. I guess for Iva she tasted the great heights back in '97 and doesn't feel like doing the work she knows is needed to get back to that kind of level.
now that she is outside TOP 100,
and less likely to get WC's except Bol,
she is only left with two choices,
1. play challengers which she probably has never
played in the last ten years
2. yes, retire.......
either one will be an interesting choice dont u think?
well, iva did play challenger before her short comeback in 2002, but i don't think she'll do it again...

Well, she's actually 26 and players like Sabatini and Huber (who had kind of a similar career) retired at about the same age
as a GS winner she is always going to be (amd has to be) considered to wild-cards into tournaments, so she would not necessarily have to play challengers all the time.

it's up to her. if she's prepared to some work, i would don't retire, if not, then definitely do, because she is kind of ruining her career languishing in outside the top 100 without injury (although injury has certainly hurt her significantly)
i don't see why she shouldn't leave. why go from tournament to tournament getting destroyed by everyone?
yeah Iva is 26 not 24, she's had a 10+ year career. The Charleston title last year is not a bad way to go out, if it's really the end.

Thanks for the correction. I thought 24 sounded a bit young considerng Iva's been around awhile. Yeah it's totally sad the nosedive she's taken this year in the rankings. I hope she can rededicate herself to the game and give it when last shot. Conchita's resilience should give her some inspiration. If she does retire I'll miss Iva a lot because she always seemed like one of the game's most likable players.
She's best friends with Jen so she has seen what is possible with a little dedication.
Majoli about to retire? I hope not... She is still young at 26 (that's only a little bit older than me, so that IS still young... :p ;) ) and still has a lot of game... If she really cares about tennis then she'll stick around!! Everything is possible with tennis... I wish her lots of luck for the future... :)
Majoli is only 26!!
I read an article where she said she thought she could win another slam. If she has to play qualies she won't ever do that.
