High seeded players have reached SF/Final this week:
(1) Putintseva, (2) Zidansek, (4) T. Martincova and (8) Kalinina.
I fear they will withdraw. But I hope not. This would make this draw very weak ...

Who is Olianovskaia ???
Very lucky for the Q who draws her.

(6) Sasnovich should give Baszak a tennis lesson.
Some interesting R1 matches like Blinkova vs Schmiedlova and Gracheva vs Kuzmova.
Also will be fun to see Ula Radwanska play!

The perfect tournament (weak clay MM) for solid Begu to reach the final or even win.
It will depend if best players like (1) Putintseva, (2) Zidansek, (4) Martincova play or withdraw.

A pity that talented Chwalinska doesn´t play here. Big chance missed ...

Wow, this is certainly not the strongest draw, but much less of a mess than I expected.

You need to read the Polish threads. Apart from the other comments, Chwalinska is taking a break because injuries and getting Covid have affected her mental health.

As expected, Putintseva withdraws and (9) Párrizas Díaz takes her spot in the draw.

I understand Putintseva withdrawing for Olympics (eventhough she should’ve withdrawn before the draw), but all the others… is it really that hard to play two weeks in a row nowadays lol especially with this draw.

I'm quite surprised Zidansek in particular withdrew. She did have a few 3 setters this week, but she only had one match on the grass, just 2 matches in Hamburg last week, so just 8 matches since reaching the RG SF on June 10th, and she of course withdrew from the Olympics.

She may be feeling it, or just wants to celebrate / take it easy after her first WTA success, but that was a glorious chance for another 180 or 280 points, on her fave surface.

It's TBA now, so we will see.
I mean Wikipedia has it so...just talked to her she said she didn't even know and emailed supervisor. She says chances are high since Talaba already left town and she's second highest seed to lose in QR1, or the way the lotto worked in that case...Im hopeful...
