14 yo Mahak (born June 24, 2001) from Mumbai looks very promising! :D The most promising Indian girl after Karman (who is 3 years older) I'd say :)

She won G4 Hyderabad ITF Junior 2 months ago (she was the 3rd seed, beat top seed Sathwika Sama 4-6 6-1 7-5 in SF, and 5th seed Akanksha Bhan 0 & 3 in the final :yeah:); and before that she had made another final this year, at G4 India ITF Juniors 4 in January (she was the 8th seed there, fell to 5th seed En Shuo Liang in the final, 5-7 6-2 0-6 ), and she had 4 more QF appearances (at a G3 in Kolkotta in January, and at 3 strong G14s in Europe in July). :yeah:

And this week, she made the QFs at G1 Seogwipo Asia Oceania International Junior Tennis Championships! She beat (WC)Min Gyong Kim 0 & 1 in R1, (12)Yang Lee (#129) 2 & 1 in R2, and (6)Shuyue Ma (#77) 6-4 7-6(6) in R3, before falling to (3)Mai Hontama (#50, who is in very good form - she won the GA in Osaka last month) in SF, 3-6 6-4 3-6.

She's #325 this week, her CHR is 320 (reached in September) but she will definitely break into the Top 250 next week! :yippee:

Also it's very interesting to notice that Mahak has only been playing official for a year - before this year, she had only played 2 tournaments before, in November & December last year -, so she's definitely learning very fast. Most girls (especially in Europe though) start playing international tournaments very regularly at 11-12 yo... ;)

Good luck to Mahak in the future! :cheer::cheer::cheer:

Mahak has made the final of G4 Indian ITF Junior Tournament - New Delhi this week! :)

She was the 2nd seed and she beat (Q)Sonashe Bhatnagar 0 & 2 in R1, double-bagelled (Q)Humera Begum Shaik in R2, beat Shivani Amineni 3 & 1 in QF, and 7th seed Marta Oliveira 2 & 4 in SF, before falling to top seed Georgina Axon (1999, #166) 7-5 5-7 2-6 in the final

Mahak played G3 ITF Pune Open Junior Tennis Championship last week :)

She was the 2nd seed again, beat Kaaviya Balasubramanian 2 & 2 in R1, Anna Solovyeva 2 & 4 in R2, 7th seed Milana Lysova 1 & 0 in QF , and 8th seed Marta Oliveira 2 & 4 in SF, but she lost again to top seed Georgina Axon in the final, 1 & 4 :sobbing: :tears:

Kinda disappointed in the final scoreline, I really thought she'd take her revenge over Axon

Mahak played G3 India ITF Junior 1 - Chandigarh this week. She was the top seed, beat Pei Hsuan Chen 4 & 4 in R1, qualifier Abinikka Renganathan 2 & 1 in R2 and 6th seed Komola Umarova 6-1 7-6(1) in QF, lost to 4th seed Jodie Burrage in SF, 6-2 0-6 4-6

Burrage is 2 years older though, obviously way more experienced;)

Perhaps you should make a thread for Zeel Desai now too ;) 3 set queen this week and now on a 15 match winning streak, in not particularly strong fields but still rather impressive nonetheless. :yeah:

It's good to see so many strong juniors flying up the rankings. :D

Mahak has played 3 more tournaments since my last post:

- G2 India ITF Junior 2 - Delhi, where she made the final. She was the top seed, beat Megan Davies 7-6(7) 6-2 in R1, Jennifer Luikham 3 & 2 in R2, Pei Hsuan Chen 6-4 4-6 6-2 in QF and Thasaporn Naklo 1 & 0 in SF, fell to 3rd seed Zeel Desai in the final, 3 & 4 :awww:

- G3 Kolkota ITF Juniors - top seeded again, she beat (WC)Kaaviya Balasubramanian 1 & 3 in R1, but flopped to Shivani Amineni in R2, 4 & 1 :(

- G5 Indian ITF Junior Tournament - Indore this week, where she was once again the top seed and once again an unfortunate finalist. She beat qualifier Shreya Tatavarthy 2 & 1 in R1, (WC)Sara Yadav 1 & 0 in R2, 7th seed Priyana Kalita 6-1 4-6 7-5 in QF, and Sravya Shivani Chilakalapudi 3 & 1 in SF, lost to 6th seed Abinikka Renganathan 6-7(6) 1-6 in the final :sobbing:

Hope these losses won't affect her to much, they are against players who are 2-3 years older than her, which is a huge difference in juniors, and she'll probably thrash these girls if she played them in a few years :)

Mahak reached a CHR of 101 a couple weeks ago :)

She just lost badly to (8)Valentyna Ivakhnenko (WTA 256) in R1 of 25K New Delhi, 2 & 0

Hopefully she learns stuff from this match :yeah:

Congrats to Mahak on winning G2 Dunlop Japan Open Junior Championships this week! :D

She was the 3rd seed there, had a bye in R1, beat Rina Saigo 4-6 6-4 6-3 in R2, 14th seed Hikaru Sato 3 & 3 in R3, WC Ayumi Koshiishi 7-6(2) 2-6 6-2 in QF, 10th seed Paulina Bakaite (who upset 2nd seed Miyamoto in QF) 3 & 2 in SF, and top seed Yuki Naito (#26, CHR 15) 0-6 6-1 6-2 in the final! :bigclap:

Good job turning the final around after a not-so-ideal start  :hi5:

This is her first singles title this year, after 2 lost finals (G2 New Delhi & G5 in Indore, both in January), and biggest one! Makes up for her disappointing loss in R1 at the GA in Osaka last week (she was the 12th seed, lost in 3 to Nagata after winning the first set). :awww:

Congrats to Mahak on winning the G3 in Chandigarh last week: she was the top seed, beat Sravya Shivani Chilakalapudi 3 & 0 in R1, double-bagelled Aesha Patel in R2 and Vaidehi Chaudhari in QF, 3rd seed Thasaporn Naklo 2 & 2 in SF, and 4th seed Axana Mareen 1-6 6-2 6-2 in the final :rocker2: :yeah:

She's playing the G2 in New Delhi this week, she's the 2nd seed there (top seed being Desai) :cheer:

Mahak won the title in Delhi! :bounce: :D

She double-bagelled Singh in R1, and beat Mananchaya Sawangkaew 6-7(4) 6-4 6-3 in R2, 5th seed Axana Mareen 4-6 6-2 7-5 in QF, 7th seed Kuan Yi Lee 3 & 2 in SF, and top seed Zeel Desai (turning 18 in a month, #37, WTA 868) 7-6(6) 6-3 in the final :clap2:

Passed 2 very good tests by beating Axana again, and then beating Desai in straights for the title (even more given that the H2H between the 2 was 0-2 before this match, both losses having come in straights) :yeah: I think she'll be very close to eventually bring into the Top 50 with this new title! :)

Congrats to Mahak on reaching her first pro singles final this week! :D

She is the runner-up of 15K Gwalior in India: she's received a MDWC in this tournament and she beat Amrita Mukherjee 1 & 3 in R1, 7th seed Sri Peddi Reddy (21 yo, WTA 783/CHR 603) 1 & 3, qualifier Bhuvana Kalva (22 yo, CHR 702) - who thrashed 3rd seed Bavisetti in R2 - 5-7 6-3 6-4 in QF, and top seed Fatma Al Nabhani (25 yo, junior CHR 33, WTA 415) 6-3 4-0 ret. in SF :hi5:, lost to 8th seed Zeel Desai (18 yo, junior #32, WTA 853) - who routined 2nd seed Bhatia in QF - 3-6 5-7 in the final :awww:

Good week! :yeah:

Mahak is through to the semis of G1 Chief Ministers Cup ITF Malaysian International I this week :D :bounce:

She's the 9th seed, had a bye in R1, and beat Funa Kozaki 4 & 3 in R2, Eunhye Lee (who routined 6th seed Lansere in R2) 7-6(3) 6-0 in R3, and 16th seed Anri Nagata (who upset 2nd seed Liang in R3) 7-5 6-3 in QF today :yeah:

She'll face fellow Indian Mihika Yadav (17 yo, #105/CHR 66), who dismantled 4th seed Naito in R2 and also thrashed 11th seed Hindova in QF, in SF tomorrow... :bounce: Interestingly, these 2 have never faced each other before, which I find pretty surprising!

Hopefully Mahak can pull out the win, come on! :armed: :cheer:

3 Indian girls are in the semis btw (Desai in the other half)
