Blue clay???!!!! That's the funniest thing I've heard in ages. To tell you the truth, not exactly being a traditionalist, I love it. Completely bonkers but, hey, why not?

Unikát, turnaj v Madride chce modrú antuku
22.04.2009 16:27 - MADRID

I'm sure it can be done so that it plays the same as red clay just a different colour. Sounds cool.

I've always thought we need more variety in the surfaces. After 2 months, red clay can begin to look boring and the ball can be difficult to see from some angles. Then there's almost EVERY hardcourt tourney with that boring green/blue scheme. Everywhere looks the same. If this is true, I hope more tournaments do the same thing.

Love it! Tennis has a tremendous potential for growth and expansion so why not start with the court surfaces. It has to be better than the awfully bland, muddy green clay. Hell even Red clay shows it's 'age' after a while.

It would look cool, a bit different. But it isn't out of the ordinary looks wise. I mean we have green clay, although the blue clay will still play exactly like the red.

BTW I hope we have more black indoor hard courts. I remember the ATP Masters was played in Australia one year and it looked so cool.

There's a thread on this on MTF. It's Tiriacs idea, because of the sponsor and attention. It does play "the same" they say and Fel.Lopez and Alb.Costa tried it out, but weren't fond of the idea.

It would enhance visibility for the TV viewers though, so...

I agree with the part about HC but clay? There are only 4-5 big WTA tournaments played on red clay.
We already have green clay, we don't need blue clay IMO.

I've never thought about this idea but it is a pretty cool one.
The should add more variety to surfaces, make them more different in general (Why slow down Wimbledon? Why get rid of indoor carpet?). It would add so much.
