What a match from Marta 😍 she was dialed in the whole match.
Would've probably been 6-0 in the second set if it wasn't for that nasty fall.
Congrats!

Main difference was Potapova's second serve. She was only winning 28% behind it.

Marta was too solid for her today, if only she could play like that more often. She's such a great defender.

Marta's composure from the start and thoughout the match, also right after the fall and MTO, was so impressive. Kudos to Sandra for that too, their preparations for the match must have been perfect.

And just so great to watch Marta on an evening where you don't fear that her first serve will break down any moment.

Numbers are not misleading but Potapova just had too many errors on decisive points. And in Marta's own service games the managed to keep focus and win the right points where it got tight. But the match had some high quality rallies in particular in first set.

Sabalenka next, Marta keep entertaining and spoiling us ! Everything is possible.

Marta was so composed even after losing 2 games after her nasty fall, and with Potato starting to hit a few more Winners, she kept the pressure on, and Potato broke herself again to lose the match. Aryna should be a massive step up in the Quarterfinal but she hasn't been playing great so far this week.

This must be the 1st time Marta has defeated 2 Flagless Players in B2B Matches in the same Tournament since the start of the Russian invasion.

Tomorrow's match against Sabalenka is on April 30th. This gives Marta a chance to become one of my GSC calendar girls of 2025 if she is successful in SLAYING Aryna. If Marta is successful tomorrow she will join Jelena Ostapenko as Miss April. :ROFLMAO:

Players that have SLAYED either World # 1 or World # 2 or both become exclusive calendar girls in my GSC.

Miss January--Coco Gauff and Madison Keys

Miss February--Ekaterina Alexandrova, Jelena Ostapenko, Clara Tauson and Mirra Andreeva

Miss March--Mirra Andreeva and Alexandra Eala

Miss April--Jelena Ostapenko + ?????????????

I was finally able to see highlights from the match and Nastia was hitting the ball very well! If Nastia held even one of her 3 game points at 2-5 in the 2nd and Marta didn’t get that lucky netcord to bring up match point who knows what could have happened. Then again that fall totally disrupted Marta and could have easily won 6-0 in that 2nd set

It’s just that Marta’s defense is totally out of this world right now. It kinda reminds me of Kim Clijsters/ASV who were very good defensive players but at the same time can turn their defensive positions into offensive positions with those squash shots, which Marta has perfected
