I think "lucky loser" picks up a whole new meaning from today... Imagine that you've been playing your best tennis ever in the tournements leading to RG. You've reached a couple of quarterfinals in Masters Series Events. Your ranking has been constantly improving this year, and right now you're in the top 70. You would expect to make it for the main draw in such a huge tournement (128 places)... No, you have to pass through the qualies, because back then in February, when the ITF organisers checked the ranking for the entry list, you were down there... Well, you play your first matches, lose the third one, but you're in, all the same, because you were the highest-ranked player among qualifiers... You are therefore the first lucky loser of the list... but you're so lucky you pick the number 4 seed and one of the best caly court players of the world, a certain Carlos Moya!! Isn't it funny?!
