OK, this question is obviously directed at fans of the top-players (current or past).
I will start with Steffi (although she's not my all-time favourite).
Grass was always called her best surface, and it obviously was her favourite one. But I have always thought that, with her backhand, she's most vulnerable there. Of course, her slice-backhand is a great weapon on grass when the opponent stays at the baseline.
But players like Mariaan de Swardt or Patty Fendick showed what you had to do: serve-and-volley, attack her on the backhand and finish off with the volley. Although they didn't win, their tacvtic still was successful.
