I agree.Top half so much stronger than bottom
Piter is a hot favourite with the bookmakers to beat Zawadska (1.25 v 3.75 - the same odds they have Rogozinska-Dzik to beat Szczepanska), and Kubka is well-favoured to beat Kania (1.61 v 2.20).And now the quarterfinals begins, the difference between the top half and the bottom half really shows!
Zawadzka will have the opportunity to get a nice revenge over Piter for a very tight loss two weeks ago. Kania-Kubka is unpredictable.
Hard to say who is going to make the semifinals in the bottom also.
There have been some really strange odds posted in different tournaments over the last few weeks, including at least a couple where I wished I had a betting account because what was listed was the complete opposite of what I expected - and MY favourite won each time!Still Zawadzka had match point against Piter two weeks ago, plus Piter is coming right from Kozerki where she was still playing both singles and doubles final the day before yesterday and finished very late her R2 match yesterday too. Ranking wise she's obviously the favourite but the odds are maybe not so reliable in this case.
I'm very unlikely to be watching that one, much as I would like to because I expect it to be the best match of the day. Both the first two women's quarter-finals look likely to start in about 45 minutes or so, which is midnight my time, and I'll watch those, but I do NOT intend to stay up until 3 or 4 o'clock to watch the finish of the others!Kania is a better player than Kubka overall but she has been struggling a lot for years. Kubka can play great matches but also quite atrocious ones with big and many mistakes in just a few games. There's no reason for Kania to lose if she somehow manages to display some clean tennis in my opinion (which she could NOT do), unless Kubka is on a very good day.
