I created a new thread to announce this cause this is trully remarkable... I mean, Lindsay Davenport just beat 6-0, 6-0 the #3 player in the world I don't know if that's ever happened before.
Anyway, of course, I could not watch the match so anyone who would give me a detailed description of it I would greatly appreciate it.

I watched and it was incredible! It was the cleanest FULL match I've seen Lindsay play, comparable to her beating Serena 6-1 6-3 last year, but she played flawlessly both sets. Maria was just out of sorts, couldn't get anything going. It was a mixture of Lindsay being awesome and Maria way under par. I'm soooooo proud of Lindsay and happy for her, this will do a ton for the confidence!

I admire you for admitting you were wrong, Andrew! I must say, for the past week it has really been winding me up a little when I see you posting that Lindsay will not beat Maria. Even after all these matches where Lindsay has shown her mental strength by coming from near-beaten to winner!

From what I hear, Lindsay played phenominal....but even if it was true that Maria was under par, Lindsay kept her mental strength together - which I feel is the main thing.

With this match, I feel that Lindsay has put a stamp on why she is number one and if she wins today then that is a firm authoritive stamp down....and a guantlet thrown down to the rest of the tops ten.

I do feel sorry for Maria though. The last year she has come along way, and has been somewhat unstoppable. When she has lost, it hasn't been convincingly. A result like this could either make or break a player and in this case, i certainly hope it doesn't ruin Maria. She really has something about the wy she plays (usually) and I hope it doesn't get lost too much because there is a danger of this event lingering in the back of her mind. Although I don't mind it lingering their too much when she plays Lindsay j/k

Lindsay is a different player now than when she was in 2003 losing to kim several times. I won't be in to watch it tonight so I'll have to tape it. C'mon Lindsay and keep up the pace

GUYS.............. i can not believe it! Its awesome! I always thought lindsay was playing much better....could feel she was ont eh verge of somethink quite remarkable.....and she certainly delivered! JUST AWESOME! I think as well as being totally pumped up for it, the fact Maria was saying" yeah i think i have the weapons to beat lindsay for a third time" (hmmmmmmmm !!!!!), that this is one of her fav tournies ever in her home state too, and teh fact she hasnt being playing doubles.....gave her everything she needed to wipe the floor with screampova!

CAnt believe they didnt show the match on eurosport.......but tonight its on live at 8pm......i wouldnt miss it for the world!
