She needs another big tournament win to motivate her. Stanford 2004 was a perfect example. She realized she could beat anybody. Now, it's like we're back at Wimbledon 2004, on that sad Thursday which became known as the Darkest Day in the History of Women's Tennis.
She SHOULD be able to handle Martina. Apart from her win over Maria, Tina hasn't been too impressive against the top players. But, what top players has Lindsay beaten this year? Equally unimpressive. If she gets beyond that, I like her chances against Myskina in the QF, alot. Her semifinal, sigh... She has everthing to beat Maria, EVERYTHING. There is no reason for her to lose to Maria. But, four times, she has screwed up. At Wimbledon, tanks. At Tokyo, that was more injury than anything else. The YEC...I'm still trying to figure out WTF that was. It was like a semi-tank yawns performance. Then, Dubai. She could not serve. She was missing second serves by FEET. Plus, her attitude wasn't great. More laughing at Maria's winners. Reminds me of another match...
Anyway, I have a really bad feeling about that match. She just can't get the job done against Maria, and unfortunately I see that trend continuing.
