Consider the state of the top ten

01 Lindsay - Knee injury. Will not train for weeks or months. An obvious setback when she was playing extremely ell.

02 Jenn - The flu is no big deal. Not winning a touenament since RG, that's a big deal. Her form has gone south.

03 Venus - Chronic tendonitis. Hasn't played since the US.

04 Martina Ankle AND playing below form

05 Kim - Healthy and playing well
06 Serena - Healthy and playing well
07 Justine - Healthy and playing well
08 Jelena - Healthy and playing well
09 Amelie - Healthy and playing well
10 Monica - Healthy and playing well

Are we seeing a pattern here?

Seems to me that #5-#10 are poised to do some damage to the top of the rankings.

I don't think the girls at the top should start quaking in their boots just yet. let's wait and see how everyone's feeling in Jan.

I have to agree with moon here. At this point, it is uncertain what anyone's form will be in January. Example, Jennifer ended 00 in terrible form. She was not fit and lost in the first round of the Chase in terribly played match against Kournikova. Look at how much she shaped up during her break. She absolutely dominanted in Australia. At the end of 00, there was no way to predict that she would break out.

So, let's wait and see what happens. This next year should prove to be very interesting.

And.... the top 4 players are many points ahead of the next few players, not much damage can be done, just a closing of the gap
