Congrats Leylah for winning this Slam Title without losing a single set and without needing a tiebreak. :worship:
Navarro has to improve on her mobility. She is too slow moving in any direction. Leylah could have won this much easier if she had made fewer UE.
Only the second Canadian girl to win Jr Slam after Genie (at 18 and 5 months Genie was though). Leylah is 16 and 9 months.

Hats off to Leylah's parents and her lil sister. :worship:
The father (of Ecuadorian descent) is like the father of Serena and Venus, training his daughters himself even though he was previously a soccer/football coach. The mother (of Filipino descent) works full time to finance what tennis Canada wouldn't or couldn't pay about the training and traveling to events. The sister and training partner (Bianca Jolie Fernandez) hopes to become just like her big sister.

A 13 minutes documentary in French about the Fernandez family.

I can certainly understand her wanting to concentrate on the Canadian ITFs in July, but at the same time, it is a bit of a shame that she won't get get the opportunity to potentially play on a packed Court 1 in a Jr Wimbledon final.

Plus, if she does plan to get in the top 200 by the end of the year, or certainly by Wimbledon 2020 anyway, then she'll be pretty likely to get a MDWC next year if she wins. Mind, I have no idea how her games matches up to grass.

Congrats to Leylah. She's been knocking on the door of a Junior Slam title. Now to work on the pro game and see what she can do in those women's ITF.

Leylah rose to the 3rd spot in the Jr. ITF rankings. Unfortunately, losing the SF points of RG 2018 made it impossible to pass Clara Burel 2nd, and Tauson remains 1st because she did not have to defend singles points from RG 2018.
Andreescu's best ranking was 3rd as well. Abanda 4th. Genie's best ranking was 2nd, but it helps if you play juniors until you're 18 and 5 months.

Nice article about Leylah and Tennis Canada's plans to get her to the next level. Having a full time coach other than her father will be a must. He has done a great job so far but I guess an experienced coach is needed as soon as possible. He can go on taking care of Bianca Jolie, his youngest daughter of 15. He can't coach both any ways.
Leylah says in the article that Justine Henin is one of her idols and that a coach told her in Paris that her style is pretty similar to Henin's.

Yes but only if the experienced coach has complete control. You do not want a Wozniacki's situation .

I think it is a bit early to talk about the Rogers Cup main draw WC...
