Was behind 2-4 in the 1st set but won 4 games in a row with some brilliant winners CC and DTL
Her opponent was pretty good, hitting very hard, but making a bit more errors than Leylah.
The Canadian in the 2nd set was again behind 3-4, then 5-6 but found a way to prevail again with some very good defense.

The #2 seed Qinwen Zheng in Leylah's half has lost. Perhaps that will help when QF comes

Another win in R3 for Leylah

Started down 0-3, then won 8 games in a row and the set. Her opponent then raised her level, winning 3 games in a row to lead 3-2 in the second set. Leylah struggled a bit to keep the ball in play at times but she corrected than in the end, broke the Italian at a crucial time at 5-5, then served for the match like a Champ.

QF will be vs Leonard M. (Fra)

This is her coach. Not someone from Tennis Canada. She had a talk with him at least 4 times and every time she won the following games. Someone from her familly perhaps?

That's a very weak G1 though. Collard and Bennetto are there as well in MD

There is something very unusual and truly impressive about Leylah.
She is probably an indestructible cyborg machine :spit:

She is never injured, never even had to get a limb taped since she started playing ITF Juniors or Pros. Try to find a picture of her with a taped leg. I haven't found any on Google Images

Then I thought, there are certainly a couple of singles matches in pros or juniors that she couldn't finish since 2015, having to retire or offering a walk over. I have found none on her ITF activity tab.

A big contrast with Bianca Andreescu who has been injury prone for the last 3 years. Not so with Leylah, she seems to be indestructible

Out of curiosity how tall is she? She looks like such a tiny thing on TV :lol:

Well according to a website, Clara Tauson is 1.82 meter, or a little more than 6 feet tall.
It looks like Leylah is a dozen centimeters shorter, 5 inches. That would make her 1.70 meter tall, or 5 feet 7 inches.

Picture from 2 months ago. She's just 16 so perhaps still growing
