Tennis Canada is pretty strict on their conditions to help financially. Only if they have full control and power over the player will they completely support you financially. They don't want parents to be involved in any of the coaching. I'm guessing this is probably the reason here, the father is very much involved with Leylah's tennis.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Denis Shapovalov's mother is very involved in his career and they pay all his bills ...

Not yet “guaranteed” because of Istanbul next week but i think she will stay in

Oh, right. Is she playing Istanbul? It may be more prudent to wait for Rome but several withdrawals will open up the draw. It may be too much of a quick turnaround if she has to play qualies.
