It was getting absurd already. 4 days to go and kim had 3 Singles/5 Doubles matches still on the table. Can't believe they had people playing third round when neither of the world's top doubles team was on court playing singles. Retractable roof, people, it is costing you a couple million dollars a year.

As I said before if her leg is not broken she should not pull out. Her own words.
At least Kim doesn't have a history of withdrawing from events due to "exhaustion" when she hasn't played a match in 2 weeks.

Ok honestly who cares about doubles? They've won GS doubles titles before so it's not like they doubt that they can.

Kim has a good shot at the title that is what she should care about. No one is going to rag on her for withdrawing from doubles, but if she doesn't win this open well........

pffft at Kim for withdrawing. If you are not going to commit for double, don't enter from the beginning.
you can say the same thing to Serena and Venus:rolleyes:
understandable coz they arent double specialist from the start anyways,
what's important, to get a slam to shut those idiots up,
or to win the doubles and lose the slam so that those idiots
can start those stupid comments again?

I second that, if it wasn't for the rain and stupid scheduling Kim and Ai would still be in the tournament. Kim commited to the event cause she wanted to win it. But due to circumstances out of her control shereally has no choise but to withdraw unless she wants a riduculous amount of matches over the coming days. Kim is just an easy target to those who don't like her and they jump on anything to have a go at her.

She does have a choice she can play the doubles. I like her but even I can see that she has a choice. Kim should cut the doubles anyway she plays enough single tournaments to stay in form imo.

Well, here is an interesting scenario. IF Kim loses to Amelie, which is about a 1 in 4 possibility I would think, then I imagine they would probably stay in Doubles. Of course, it's not inconcievable that Ai would come back against Schiavone and decide that SHE couldn't afford to play the doubles.

Still, the organizers shit the bed on this one. They knew the rain was coming, and should have had the sense to realize that match needed prioritized.

The more I look at this, the more pissed I get. Kim and Ai vs the Australians is the ONLY Second Round match that hasn't been played yet, and 4 of the 8 third round matches are already complete. To top that, McShea and Musgrave were never even entered in the singles event, so they are only scheduling around the needs of two players. For a match that would have been over before anyone could even perspire. This was not difficult task to schedule.

Well, too bad Kim is no nostradamus. She couldnt have predicted the rain would be this bad. Remember, this is i think the first time a rain delay has washed out as many matches as this. Imagine, only 2 matches on the women's side were completed.

alleycat

She was refering to an injury time-out and not when they withraw before a match.
How can Kim disturb someones games when they get a walkover?

Kim Clijsters Singles match is before her doubles match. It would be an amazing thing if she has pulled out of the doubles for the stated reasons when it isn't clear if she will still be in the singles by the time her and Ai play in doubles ;)

Ah Bullshite yourself, I never said a thing about Williams withdrawing, I couldn't care less what they do. In fact I don't even remember when they withdrew from a doubles match, so there you go. I never talked about nor said anything about it.

Kim and Ai are on the schedule for tomorrow, so they haven't withdrawn yet

She would have a broken leg if she had to play all those matches in a day.

i want them to pull out. it would be great news for casanova and bartoli. they are already in the quarter-finals and if they were to play mcshea and musgrave i would guess they are semi-final bound.

personally i think they could have beaten ai and kim anyway considering the amount of matches they would have to play beforehand.

Go Myriam and Marion

They have totally and selfishly been scheduling this match and postponing this match to suit Clijsters and Sugiyama, its disgusting!

Don't consider Musgrave and McShea. They are hardly wealthy girls yet these Aussie Battlers have had to fork out for another 5 days accomodation etc. Looking at the schedule I see that Clijsters/Sugiyama are set to play Musgrave/McShea on Court 10. I hope it does piss down all tomorrow, cos quite frankly Musgrave/McShea have been more than patient and deserve the walkover and compensation for added expenses!
